25 September 2016 - Protection Truths in the Ark of the Covenant (Part 3) - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online
Sometimes when you hear a word in season for you, you may not recognize the need for it at first. Later on, that word will come back when you need it and you will remember it. In such cases, God has gone ahead of you! Jesus moves in life independent of people's opinion. He is not flattered by people, neither is He affected by criticisms towards Him. Only if you are free from caring about people's opinions of you then can you truly serve effectively. Why study the Ark of the Covenant? People who are wise will focus on studying about the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter what your occupation is, your job is to study Jesus! The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament unveiled. Joseph was a slave but the Bible says that he was a successful man! You can prosper in every area that you have been planted in. Bloom where you are planted. God has planted you where you are at for a reason. Before you were born, you were already an Olympic champion. You beat millions of competitors to be victorious. You are the one that made it! God has made you a champion. Sin is the one that made us losers. God's glory for your mind is tranquility, peace and to be unperturbed. The Ark of the Covenant is the most important piece of furniture of all those in the Tabernacle. God instructed Moses to build the Ark first, and then build outwards. The Ark is the clearest picture of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Ark is made of incorruptible acacia wood that is overlaid with gold. The box represents the body of Jesus.
The lid of the Ark is beaten out of one solid slab of gold just like how Jesus was beaten to become our mercy seat. The two cherubim represents God's judicial righteousness. The first time cherubim is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis: when Adam and Eve were driven out of the garden and the cherubim were stationed at the entrance of the garden to prevent man from entering the garden. God is the first One who killed an animal as a sacrifice for Adam and Eve. A thrice holy God must acquit us righteously. Because of the blood shed at the cross, God can be righteous in making us righteous. What the three items inside the Ark of the Covenant represent: 1) The two tablets of the Ten Commandments represents Man's rejection of God's standards. 2) The pot of manna represents Man's rejection of God's provision. 3) Aaron's rod that budded represents Man's rejection of God-appointed leadership.

No man except for Jesus, has fulfilled the Ten Commandments. Genesis 3:23-24, Zechariah 13:7 - After Adam and Eve sinned, they were driven out of the Garden of Eden, and cherubim with flaming swords were stationed at the entrance of the garden to prevent any man from entering. That was the first mention of sword in the Bible. The last mention of sword in the Old Testament is significant and it is this: Awake O sword against My Shepherd (Jesus). “therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” (Genesis 3:23-24 NKJV) ““Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,” Says the LORD of hosts. “Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered; Then I will turn My hand against the little ones.” (Zechariah 13:7 NKJV) Joshua 5:13-15 - Joshua was slow to recognize the Lord. We should pray for quick discernment to recognize God's presence. The "Man" is the pre-incarnate appearance of our Lord Jesus. The Lord was not there to take sides, but to take over. Your ministry belongs to the Lord. “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “ Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?” Then the Commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.” (Joshua 5:13-15 NKJV) As a believer, your heart has been circumcised. The bad emotions and feelings do not come from your heart anymore - they are coming from your flesh. Joshua 6:1-2 - "I have given" is in the past tense. God has already given us what we need. When facing a problem, by sight, it looks like we cannot do it. But God moves supernaturally. God is still a God that supplies miracles to us. “Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.” (Joshua 6:1-2 NKJV) No one can be so proud as to say "I already know everything". We are constantly repenting - change our minds. Joshua 6:8-11 - A male sheep (ram) has to be killed in order to retrieve a ram's horn. The horn (called "shofar") is sounded to proclaim the Lord's death - Jesus is the Male Sheep that died for us so that we can proclaim His death. The ark is in the center. When Jesus is at the center of your life, everything is held together. God can easily flash His hand and our problems will disappear. But God wants us to learn His ways. Carrying the Ark is lifting Jesus up. Sounding the shofar is proclaiming Jesus' death. Joshua told the people not to say anything because their potential complaining and murmuring could destroy what God was doing for them. He learnt this lesson 40 years ago when he went into Canaan as a spy - all the children of Israel who complained and said that they could not take the land died in the wilderness - except for Joshua and Caleb who had a spirit of faith. “So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.” So he had the ark of the LORD circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.” (Joshua 6:8-11 NKJV) Leviticus 25:8-10 - Every fiftieth year, restoration and resurrection happens - they get their possessions back. The "trumpet" mentioned here is the shofar. “‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.” (Leviticus 25:8-10 NKJV) 9 is the number of the Holy Spirit. There are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit. To possess your possessions you have to keep proclaiming the Lord's death. Partaking of the Lord's Supper is the way we proclaim the Lord's death today. Whenever Satan sees you taking the Lord's Supper, he trembles and takes four or five steps backwards. Sickness and disease also trembles in fear in your body. I Corinthians 14:6-9 - You can preach to people to benefit them in these four ways. Speak with words that are easy to understand, especially if you are a communicator. If you want your walls of Jericho to fall, it is by listening to preaching. “But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching? Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played? For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle? So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.” (I Corinthians 14:6-9 NKJV) I Chronicles 13:8, 1 Chronicles 15:28 - When David first took the Ark, Uzzah died. Then he went to study the Scriptures. When David took the Ark the second time and placed it with Obed-Edom, he did it right. During the first taking, it says "with all their might". They relied on their own strength and efforts. "God" is the word "Elohim" (Creator God) which indicates a feeling of distance. During the second taking they used the shofar (which proclaims the Lord's death). In the first taking there was no Lord Jesus. "Lord" in the second taking is the word "Yahweh" (the Lord) which indicates a feeling of closeness. “Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.” (I Chronicles 13:8 NKJV) “Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.” (I Chronicles 15:28 NKJV) When you keep listening to the word of God being preached, the walls of your Jericho are crumbling and decaying from inside. You may not see it happening in the natural but it is happening. Galatians 3:5 - The word "supplies" here is in the present continuous tense. We are constantly being supplied and filled with the Holy Spirit. We won't become empty. God constantly works miracles among us - in us, and for the people around us as well. If we bring the Ten Commandments out of the Ark, it will bring trouble. What God has hidden in the Ark, let it remain hidden. Faith doesn't come by having heard, it comes by hearing and hearing! “Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—” (Galatians 3:5 NKJV) I Corinthians 1:21 - The word "save" is the Greek word "sozo" which also means heal. We receive God's healing by listening to preaching. If you are sick, you should be listening to preaching constantly. The sickness doesn't take an off day. “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21 KJV) Having fame is not peaceful. Don't envy celebrities. They all need Jesus. They should envy you for having Jesus. Joshua 6:25-27 - The land where Jericho was built is cursed. “And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, “Cursed be the man before the LORD who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.” So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout all the country.” (Joshua 6:25-27 NKJV) I Kings 16:34 - Don't build up what God has destroyed. Don't go back to the worldly system after you have been delivered from it. “In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, according to the word of the LORD, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun.” (I Kings 16:34 NKJV) God can take your messes to become a message, and turn your setbacks into trophies of His grace. Mark 10:46-52 - Blind Bartimaeus was both poor and diseased. He was a beggar and he was blind. The name "Timaeus" means "impure". Pastor Prince believes that Timaeus is the man who rebuilt the city of Jericho. "Bar" means "son". There is no such thing as a health and wealth gospel, but the gospel produces Heath and wealth. Jesus came to Jericho - He came to the place of the curse. The Ark of the Covenant came to Jericho again, this time in the true Substance. The cry of Joshua caused the sun to stand still. This time, the cry of Bartimaeus caused the One who created the sun to stand still. Bartimaeus threw his garment aside, showing that he was not coming back the same after meeting Jesus. How did Bartimaeus know to look for Jesus? He heard about Jesus. Keep hearing about Jesus and listening to the word of God being preached. “Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.” (Mark 10:46-52 NKJV)
