2 September 2018 - Welcome to the Inn - Pastor Judah Smith Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Guest Speaker Sermon NotesPraise and Worship songs performed:
Luke 10:25-37 - The lawyer knew that he could not be earn eternal life by himself so he asked Jesus for the definition of a neighbor, hoping that there might be some loophole to make it possible. You don’t have to look for a neighbor - be a neighbor. Jesus is a very good storyteller. He uses cultural context in His parables to make them relatable to the listeners. Jesus does not waste words. Everything that was said is crucial. The Jews had nothing to do with Samaritans back then. They looked down on them - it was racism and prejudice. They didn’t believe that Samaritans were capable of such compassion that was shown in the parable. Therefore Jesus’ parable was extremely controversial at that time. Jesus was bringing the listeners to the end of themselves. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus elevated God’s standards to higher than man can ever reach, to bring man to the end of himself. Jesus wants the listeners to say “I can’t”, so that He can say “I can and I will”. Like the “certain man” in this parable, we are travelers (sojourners) on this earth. We don’t belong to this earth - we are just passing through. Life is not about chasing goals in order to be happy. When you reach your goal, you will find that it doesn’t fulfill you and the cycle just perpetuates again. The priest who passed by and didn’t help represents the Law. The Law will not help you to meet its demands. The levite represents a distinguished person. Our good works and accomplishments cannot save us either. The Good Samaritan is a picture of Jesus. Like the samaritans, Jesus was rejected by His own people. God comes close to you. He doesn’t withdraw from you. Like how the samaritan put the injured man on his animal, we have traded places with Jesus. At the cross, Jesus received our sins and we received His righteousness so that today we can be the righteousness of God in Christ. Like how the samaritan said “when I come again”, Jesus is coming back again. The innkeeper represents believers like you and I. We will be repaid by Jesus when He comes back. Travelers (unbelievers) are hurting from the elements of this world. There is an inn to give them refuge. The inn represents the church. These inns used to be located near to these dangerous highways. God wants to be near the broken and hurting people in the world. We worship passionately in church today because we were broken like Humpty Dumpty, and Jesus put all our broken pieces back together. May we stay close to the pain of the people who have yet to feel the refuge and comfort of the inn. “Take care of him” - our Heavenly Father desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. May we be willing to spend all our resources to love and comfort all the hurting people around the world. Jesus will repay us. “And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it? ” So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”” (Luke 10:25-37 NKJV) The Bible is a story and the main character is Jesus. Sometimes it’s possible to be reading the Bible and not realize that the main point is Jesus. It’s simple: The answer is always Jesus. Instead of reading the Bible and seeing Jesus, we tend to make it about us and our performance. Wherever you are at in the Bible, read it to look for Jesus. Prophetic word from Pastor Judah Smith: We (New Creation Church) have seen blessing, but what is coming ahead is blessing that will blow us away. Sandcastles Don't Last Forever

This is the eBook version. If you prefer to get the Paperback version (physical copy), you can get it on Amazon here for US$15. About the Book: One day when I was singing praises to God, an image floated up in my spirit: a big and beautiful sandcastle being washed away by the waves from the sea. God was teaching me the futility of holding tightly onto worldly possessions because like the sandcastle, they won't last, and one day will cease to exist. He taught me from His word to focus on Him and by doing so, I would reap great eternal rewards before Jesus' throne at the start of the Millennium. These rewards will last forever and can't be destroyed or stolen. It is my prayer that the revelations in this book will help you to live with a focus on the things above where God is, fulfill your God-given calling in life, be happier and to accumulate more eternal rewards to your account. In this Book, you will learn about: - Heavenly investment advice and the futility of worldly pursuits from a trillionaire in the Bible - Why God has to reward us in order to be righteous - When and how God will destroy the current earth and sky to make way for new ones - The types of fireproof works that earn eternal rewards at the end of time - The abundant rewards of doing good works while abiding by the non-disclosure agreement between God and you - The difference between the temporary places of torment: Sheol and Abaddon - Who is the Antichrist and his name revealed in the Bible - What is the Mark of the Beast and why it disqualifies its recipients from receiving salvation - The different judgments at the throne of Jesus Christ and what it means for you as a believer - How to fulfill your calling and maximize your gifts to receive the best eternal rewards Testimonials about the contents of this book: "Sandcastles Don't Last Forever is very well written, its message loud and clear. Milton Goh gives common-sense insight on often confusing Scripture, which is much appreciated in these troubled times. My understanding of the Bible has definitely improved." - Mike Garrett, first Editor/ Publisher for Stephen King and Author of Christian Novel "Innocence Denied", from USA "This book is absolutely breathtaking. We don't work to be saved but were created to do good works. I am so energized and excited to know God values our works and we will be rewarded. This is all Glory to Jesus... I cant wait to throw my crowns at his feet and thank him for saving my life!" - Evangelist Michael Clark from USA "Dear Milton Goh, I truly thank our Abba, Father for the revelations in this book. It is so amazing how I begin to discover important verses in the Bible that I have never read. That instead of following riches, with sleepless nights, and actually shortening our lives, we are just to 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ', and 'Love one another'. How beautiful to find out that actually in the Bible there is both 'Earthly or Worldly Investment Wisdom' and 'Eternal Investment Wisdom' according to the revelations here from Ecclesiastes 5:14-17 WEB)!; “It seems like Solomon was not only wise at earning material riches but also at earning eternal riches.” All the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! God bless you Milton Goh for such a wonderful book!" - Nitta Nierra from Belgium “Thank you Milton. I have just finished reading “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever”. It’s such a good book that's filled with God's word. I love it very much. Might read again if I have the time. Thanks so much!” - Mally Chai from Singapore "I'm reading this book and loving it! The revelations of the Gospel truth shared and it's life applications are absolutely amazing! I give glory to the Lord Jesus for my dear brother Milton for this exceptional resource. I'm gonna keep feeding on its contents and believe God for supernatural breakthroughs as my mind is renewed in Christ!" - Terence from Tombel, Cameroon “Excellent book!!
