31 December 2017 - New Mindset for the New Year - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Pastor Mark Ng

Our heart is not made to be satisfied by the things of this world.

Joke by Pastor Mark Ng: God made the heavens and the earth and everything else is made in China.

We always need to draw near to Jesus and He will give us the rest that we need.

Under the Law, and the sacrificial sheep has to be a firstborn because God wants to give us the Firstborn Blessing.
It has to be without blemish because God wants to give us righteousness.

The person bringing the offering had to place his hands on the sheep because God wants us to touch Jesus.
When we touch Jesus, we touch eternity and experience a rest.

Jesus was judged for all our sins and we can expect good to happen to us because we have received Jesus’ righteousness.
We can be restful because of what Jesus has done for us.

II Corinthians 5:21 - God’s power is not in fasting or in prayer. It is in the gospel.
The gospel is the revelation of the righteousness of God imputed to us.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV)

Proverbs 4:20-23 - Everything is from the inside out. It all begins in the heart.
When you go after money, it always flies away.
Guard your heart - your heart is like a projector: whatever is inside will be manifested outside.
We are always meditating day and night. But what are you meditating on?
We need to meditate on God’s word day and night and everything we do will prosper.

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:20-23 NKJV)

The gospel is that we all fail but God still loves us.

Life is like the waves of the sea - sometimes it goes up, sometimes it comes down. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus and we’ll be able to walk above the waves.

This New Year, remember WWG.

Learn WWG (You can remember it using "Walk with God"): Worship, Word, Guard your heart. This is elaborated below.

Luke 8:35 - When the devil torments you day and night, WORSHIP Jesus, just like what the demoniac did when He saw Jesus.
The verse below shows the result.

“Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.” (Luke 8:35 NKJV)

Luke 7:7 - Just one word from Jesus can change your life.

“Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.” (Luke 7:7 NKJV)

Jeremiah 23:29 - We are not fighting against flesh and blood. We are fighting against powers and principalities.
God’s word is a hammer that breaks every lie from the devil.

““ Is not My word like a fire?” says the LORD, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29 NKJV)

The following three verses are powerful hammers to break the devil’s lies in the area of your finances.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (II Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (II Corinthians 8:9 NKJV)

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NKJV)

God's word is like a hammer that breaks the rock (lies from the devil)

Change what you see in your heart this new year

Let your heart be rested and established in grace that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Guard your heart. Your heart is like a visual projector.
A good man will bring good out of the abundance of his heart. An evil man will bring evil out of the abundance of his heart.
Abraham had trouble seeing and believing that he would have a child, so God showed him the numerous stars in the sky as a visual aid to believe that he will be a father of many.

Faith is receiving the finished work of Jesus Christ. Knowing in your mind that God loves you and believing in your heart that God loves you are two different things.

Darkness is the absence of light. Sin is the absence of grace.

Change what you see and your life will change. It’s not a new year that you need, it’s a new mindset.

Isaiah 60:1-5 - There’s nothing to lose by believing God. See God’s favor and glory always shining upon you.
See yourself as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. “Lift up your eyes all around, and see: They all gather together, they come to you; Your sons shall come from afar, And your daughters shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall see and become radiant, And your heart shall swell with joy; Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.” (Isaiah 60:1-5 NKJV)

This new year, see this in your heart: God's favor and glory always shining upon you wherever you go
