10 June 2018 - Cry out to God and be Filled with His Goodness - New Creation Church Sermon Notes (Pastor Lim Lian Neo)

Praise and Worship songs performed:
  1. This is Amazing Grace - Jeremy Riddle
  2. Shout to the Lord - Darlene Zschech
  3. Mention of Your Name - Brian Johnson
  4. Only You - New Creation Worship
  5. My Feet Are On the Rock - Abbie Parker

Proverbs 3:13 - God wants us to have wisdom because He wants us to be happy.
Nothing else can compare with wisdom because wisdom is Jesus Himself.

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.” (Proverbs 3:13-15 NKJV)

Psalm 107:43 - Lovingkindness in Hebrew is “hesed”.

“Whoever is wise will observe these things, And they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” (Psalms 107:43 NKJV)

Psalm 107:1-3 - If you’re going through a challenge, that challenge won’t endure forever.
God’s grace will endure forever in your life!
The context of this passage: The Lord delivered the children of Israel from Babylonian captivity through king Cyrus.

“Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.” (Psalms 107:1-3 NKJV)

Psalm 107:4-5 - These people have lost their way.

“They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.” (Psalms 107:4-5 NKJV)

Psalm 107:10-12 - These people have lost their freedom.

“Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Bound in affliction and irons— Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High, Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help.” (Psalms 107:10-12 NKJV)

Psalm 107:17-18 - These people have lost their health by their own fault.
Even if your problem is of your own making, through hesed wisdom, God can still deliver you out of it.

“Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, And they drew near to the gates of death.” (Psalms 107:17-18 NKJV)

Psalm 107:23-27 - These people have lost their hope.
The Lord is dealing with the enemies of Israel (the world).
Sometimes we get involved with the things of the world and get caught up in what God is doing against them.

“Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters, They see the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep. For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea. They mount up to the heavens, They go down again to the depths; Their soul melts because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end.” (Psalms 107:23-27 NKJV)

There is a pattern: These four groups of people were delivered when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble. We have a Daddy God in heaven whom we can cry out to. Everyone can cry out, even if you’re a one-day-old Christian. Even a baby knows how to cry out when he has a need.

The pattern of deliverance: Crying out to the Lord in your trouble

Psalm 107:28-32 - There is a pattern: These four groups of people were delivered when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble.
We have a Daddy God in heaven whom we can cry out to.
Everyone can cry out, even if you’re a one-day-old Christian. Even a baby knows how to cry out when he has a need.

“Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, So that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, And praise Him in the company of the elders.” (Psalms 107:28-32 NKJV)

Psalm 107:6-9 - If you have lost your way, you can cry out to the Lord and He will fill you with His goodness.

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” (Psalms 107:6-9 NKJV)

Psalm 107:13-16 - If you’re in bondage to anything at all, when you cry out, the Lord will break those chains into pieces.
“Bronze” is a picture of judgment.
Those who are in some form of addiction or bondage are bound because they don’t believe that they are the righteousness of God in Christ.
When people sin, we don’t back away from reminding them that they are the righteousness of God in Christ.
None of us are good in and of ourselves. Our own righteousness is like filthy rags.
Jesus’ righteousness was imputed to us, and we have received it as a gift because of what Jesus has done at the cross.

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, And cut the bars of iron in two.” (Psalms 107:13-16 NKJV)

Psalm 107:19-22 - If you are sick, look up and see Jesus on the cross, and how God sent His Son to pay for your healing.
Healing is the children’s bread. Even non believers can receive healing - even a crumb can have a powerful effect.

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.” (Psalms 107:19-22 NKJV)

Psalm 107:43 - “these things” refers to the pattern of crying out to the Lord in your trouble.

“Whoever is wise will observe these things, And they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” (Psalms 107:43 NKJV)

Those who are in some form of addiction or bondage are bound because they don’t believe that they are the righteousness of God in Christ. When people sin, we don’t back away from reminding them that they are the righteousness of God in Christ.

We can cry out to God because of what Jesus has done

I Chronicles 4:9-10 - The name Jabez means “sorrow”.
Jabez was a wise man - he was more honorable than his brothers.
Jabez cried out to the Lord and the Lord granted his request.
How can we cry out today? Like Jabez, we can ask God for blessings and for His hand to be with us.

“Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.” (1 Chronicles 4:9-10 NIV)

We can cry out to the Lord today because at the cross, Jesus cried out “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?” and God turned His back on Jesus.
This was done so that today we can cry out to our good Abba Father.

We have a good Daddy God who turned His back on His only begotten Son at the cross, so that we can enjoy His goodness and favor today.

Romans 4:17-21 - Abraham did not waver looking at the deadness of his own body or of Sarah’s womb.
He only considered the Lord and His promise.

“(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:17-21 NJKV)

Closing Prayer:
Pastor Lian prayed for us to gain a deeper revelation of God’s hesed wisdom and to be happy people who have wisdom.
She prayed that we will enjoy long life, riches, honor, pleasure and peace.

We can cry out to the Lord today because at the cross, Jesus cried out “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?” and God turned His back on Jesus. This was done so that today we can cry out to our good Abba Father.

I highly recommend purchasing Pastor Prince's sermons on his mobile app "Joseph Prince" on Apple App Store or Google Play Store even after you read these notes as I may have missed out something he shared and the overall experience is definitely different when you listen to him preaching directly!
Use these notes as a revision guide instead of solely depending on them!

These sermon notes are independently-compiled by me, and I'm just a loyal and regular attendee of the the church's Sunday services, and I feel led to take detailed personal sermon notes of Pastor Prince's anointed messages to share them with the world, which desperately needs the true word of God and the original gospel of grace.

I feel blessed to be able to attend Pastor Joseph Prince's services in person, and would like to help everyone who isn't able to attend in person, to get hold of the messages as soon as it is preached!
