John the Baptist's disciples told John that this was happening. John the Baptist replied that Jesus must increase and that he must decrease, and a man can receive nothing except for what is first given to him from above. The anointing of God is timeless. Many people have been waiting for an area in their life to have a breakthrough and are asking "How long God?". James 5:17-18 - Elijah had a nature like ours. He's just like us and experienced the same struggles. Many people think that God will not favor or be with a person who is depressed and discouraged. Elijah's story proves that God can even use a man who is depressed. “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” (James 5:17-18 NKJV)
King Ahab was a wicked king. His wickedness comes from his sinful pleasures. He was gluttonous.
His wife, Jezebel was evil and put in effort to worship Baal. This involved the sacrifice of babies. The two put together meant great disaster and outbreak of sin in Israel. With this backdrop, Elijah's ministry began. I King 17:1-4 - Elijah was conscious of God's presence even when he stood before the king. God is always merciful. His heart is not into judgment. He has to perform judgment because He is a righteous God. Even when He performs judgment, His heart is full of love. There is no verse in the Bible that says that God is rich in wrath. But there are verses that say that God is rich in grace and mercy. We are not focused on God's wrath today because grace has come. "THERE" is the place of provision that God has provided for you. Ask God where is your THERE. Sometimes you want God to do it here, but God says go THERE. “And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “ As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”” (I Kings 17:1-4 NKJV) I King 17:6-9 - Pastor Prince believes that this is a Bible principle: Eat two meals a day - one in the morning and one in the evening. It frees up the blood in your body to perform other tasks instead of digesting the food in your stomach which makes you feel sleepy and sluggish. Sometimes God dries up an area in your life to lead you to go somewhere else. It doesn't mean that if an area dries up in your life that it's done by the devil. That area in your life that is drying up now could have been started by God, but now God is calling you to go THERE to another area. Note: This does not apply to marriage! “The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”” (I Kings 17:6-9 NKJV) I Kings 17:15-16 - When you give to God you will never be in lack. When God sends us somewhere, He is not just blessing you, He also wants to bless the people THERE! “So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.” (I Kings 17:15-16 NKJV)

A woman's child died and when she met Elijah, she thought that God was judging her.
People are so quick to have an expectation of judgment because of their past sins. What happened next? Elijah prayed and the child was raised from the dead! God's heart is to bless us! I Kings 18:1 - The man of God has to appear so that the people would know that there's only one God that controls nature. Mount Carmel is where Elijah called down fire from heaven. The one who is God will answer by fire. The prophets of Baal called upon Baal for hours but no one regarded them at all. If you want to follow God, follow Him all the way. “And it came to pass after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”” (I Kings 18:1 NKJV) I Kings 18:30-39 - At the same timing where Jesus died on the cross, Elijah stepped out to pray. Elijah saw things from God's perspective. Even though Israel was divided at that time, he still prepared twelve stones (seeing Israel united as one nation). God sees us as one church. If you want God to bless you with more abundance, reach and influence, you must do these two things: 1) Pray for the Lord Jesus Christ to receive the greatest glory - God's glory and man's profitability is tied up together. Learn to hide yourself and give God all the glory. 2) Pray for the good of the church - God's people. Prayer cannot be a one way street of only you talking. Give God a chance to reply to you. Don't rush into prayer. Get a sense of His presence and power, and then pray a short prayer. God is a thrice Holy God. The fire must either fall on the nation or fall on the sacrifice. The fire fell on the sacrifice and Israel went free. In those days, the fire of God's judgment was greater than the sacrifice. All the sacrifice disappeared, showing how inferior the sacrifice was to pay for the sins of the people. But at Calvary, when the fire of judgment fell on Jesus who was sinless, Jesus consumed the judgment - the Sacrifice is greater than the judgment. After the prophets of Baal were executed, Elijah told King Ahab, "I hear the sound of the abundance of rain" - After the judgment comes the blessing. All of God's judgment has fallen on Jesus at the cross. Because of that, we can expect God's blessings in our lives. Don't think this: "anyway the blessing is coming, why do I need to pray?" Because the blessing is coming, pray. “Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.” Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water. And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “ LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!”” (I Kings 18:30-39 NKJV)

The fire fell on the sacrifice and Israel went free. In those days, the fire of God's judgment was greater than the sacrifice. All the sacrifice disappeared, showing how inferior the sacrifice was to pay for the sins of the people. But at Calvary, when the fire of judgment fell on Jesus who was sinless, Jesus consumed the judgment - the Sacrifice is greater than the judgment.
Never despise the day of small beginnings. Through five loaves and two fish, Jesus fed the multitudes. With a small jawbone of a donkey, Samson routed the army of the Philistines. One cloud the size of a man's fist can water the entire nation of Israel. Elijah knew how to honor God and at the right time he knew how to honor the king. I King 19:1-14 - When the king told Jezebel all that had happened, she sent a message to Elijah saying "This time tomorrow, you are dead!" King Ahab doesn't care whether God is Baal or Jehovah. He only cared about his tummy. There are people like that. Jezebel was committed to carry out evil. Elijah started to walk by sight and not by faith. He ran in fear and discouragement. He forgot about all the miraculous works of God that were done in his life. Some of us make decisions based on fear of a person and not based on consciousness of our Living Lord. Our nothingness brings the everything of God. If we think we are 30% full, God can only use 70%. We are empty and God is our everything. Elijah prayed to God to let him die, and God did not answer his prayer. Instead, Elijah NEVER died - he was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind, and he is still alive today! God answered in His own way, exceedingly and abundantly beyond what Elijah could think or imagine. The people of Israel who proclaimed "The Lord He is God" went back to their old ways. It seemed like there was no hope. But that is seeing things that are visible. The story isn't over yet. God is doing something. Sometimes a depressed person just needs more sleep - it could be because you're not sleeping enough. God gives His beloved sleep. God would never allow Elijah to die there lonely, depressed, discouraged, despondent, with a cloud of depression over him, in a desert somewhere. God was preparing a chariot of fire for Elijah! Elijah took his own journey back to Mount Horeb (Sinai) - back to the Law. It was not God's will. But God was still with Elijah (God asked "Why are you HERE Elijah?" which means that God was there too - God will never leave us or forsake us even if you went on your own journey because you were shaken by what you saw that was visible. In days of Elijah's faith, ravens and the widow fed him. In the days of Elijah's depression, angels waited on him and God Himself fed him. How great are the mercies of the Lord! God is not in the earth, wind and fire which represent ministries that emphasize on great demonstrations of God's power. You may win when people see great demonstrations of power, but you will not win their hearts. God is in the small still voice - the ministry of grace. People will turn around in the ministry of grace where they feel God's gentleness and love. After the devil uses people, he throws them aside like a crumpled, dirty tissue. Saddam Hussein said that he would be the next Nebuchadnezzar. He was given charisma and riches for a while by the devil, but when they found him, he had hair everywhere and was treated like any ordinary person. The devil really dropped him. God is not like the devil. He will carry you and bear you on Eagle's wings. “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the LORD came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” So he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”” (I Kings 19:1-14 NKJV) I Kings 19:18 - Some people think that they are the only one with the revelation of grace. This is God's reply to such people. Elijah was more conscious of what God was doing in judgment, but he was not conscious of what God was doing in grace. If Elijah said "How come I didn't see them?" - that was the problem! It's not God's way to rely on seeing what is visible. “Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”” (I Kings 19:18 NKJV) Hebrews 11:27 - Many times we are snared by the visible. We lose sight of the invisible God. The devil always points us to the visible. When believers walk by sight, they are worse and weaker than the people of the world. “By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:27 NKJV) Peter could walk on water when his eyes were on Jesus, but when Peter looked at the howling strong winds, he started to sink. What has the strong wind got to do with walking on water? You mean you can walk on water if there is no wind blowing? Walking by sight will cause the greatest disciples to sin and the greatest prophets to fail. It's always so refreshing to take your eyes off the servant, and put your eyes on the Perfect Master who can never fail. You should not discipline your child if he or she is being naughty because of tiredness. When the disciples were fishing all night but caught nothing, Jesus looked at them who just betrayed Him a few days ago and spoke to them words of love and grace, saying "Come and eat". Pastor Prince told us by the Spirit that those who are worried about their situation with examples like: "I'm not getting the results that I expected", "I'm not seeing the supernatural debt cancellation that I'm waiting for", "it's no longer like last time", "I used to call fire down from heaven etc", God is going to do something to their finances from this day forth! Praise God!
