22 March 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Lifting Holy Hands As Kings in ChristTestimony 1: A lady with a limp due to a condition was scheduled for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan. Through constantly partaking of the holy communion and believing for her healing, she first experienced partial healing and right now is completely healed without any operations or visiting the orthopedic. Now her legs are so healthy that she can even run for the bus! Testimony 2: A guy who is a cello player had a pain in his shoulder, and during one of the services which Pastor Prince prayed for healing and said that "Someone was being healed of a frozen shoulder". He felt that the word was for him, and experienced a warmth in his shoulder and there was an improvement immediately. A week later, the pain completely disappeared and full motion was restored. He said that his shoulder feels stronger than ever before! 1 Timothy 2:8 - As believers, our hands are holy. Anger problems come from pride. Pride comes from self-occupation when our thoughts are all on ourselves and not on God. Superiority and inferiority complexes both stem from self-occupation. Feeling anger is not sin, but if we act on our anger and sin, that's wrong. "I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;" (I Timothy 2:8 NKJV) Romans 13:1 - Paul preached this during the rule of the Roman Empire who ruled with an iron fist. We are to submit to the governing authority because all of them are set up by God. "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God." (Romans 13:1 NKJV) Many men have attempted world domination, but they all failed. Only Jesus has a guaranteed everlasting rule over the world. 2 Chronicles 26:5 - When God makes you prosper and bestows His favor upon you, no one can make you poor. When God gave you that position, He will uphold you. "He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper." (II Chronicles 26:5 NKJV) Your relationship with God is with YHWH (pronounced as 'Yahweh'), and when God performs and works miracles, He is Elohim. 2 Chronicles 26:15-21 - God helps us in more ways that we know of. Give Him thanks for all the help. Pride brings our destruction - it causes us to trust in our own efforts instead of God's grace. In the Old Testament, the king of Israel is not allowed to offer sacrifices and that role belongs only to the priests. Similarly, the priests cannot step into the office of the king. The name "Uzziah means "My strength is Jehovah". Uzziah forgot that his strength came from the Lord! "And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong. But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the LORD his God by entering the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. So Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him were eighty priests of the LORD —valiant men. And they withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, “ It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed! You shall have no honor from the LORD God.” Then Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the incense altar. And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and there, on his forehead, he was leprous; so they thrust him out of that place. Indeed he also hurried to get out, because the LORD had struck him. King Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He dwelt in an isolated house, because he was a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD. Then Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land." (II Chronicles 26:15-21 NKJV) Leviticus 13:44 - Leprosy on the forehead is the worst kind - it represents unclean thinking. Thanks to Jesus, we are made utterly clean. Under grace, Jesus touched the leper and the leper was healed of his leprosy. Don't be afraid be a contagious Christian under grace. "He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head." (Leviticus 13:44 KJV) Leviticus 16:12-13 - This is a picture of Jesus. The sweet incense is the virtue of Jesus released through to the judgement that fell upon Him at the cross, and the cloud of incense goes up to the Father as a pleasing sweet aroma, just as how believers are a sweet aroma to the Father today. "Then he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before the LORD, with his hands full of sweet incense beaten fine, and bring it inside the veil. And he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the Testimony, lest he die." (Leviticus 16:12-13 NKJV) Revelation 8:3-4 - Moses was given instructions by God to reproduce the golden censer that already exists in heaven. When your prayers are covered with the virtues and goodness of Jesus, they become perfect prayers. When we stand before God in Christ, we get what Jesus deserves. "Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand." (Revelation 8:3-4 NKJV) Psalm 141:2 - Jesus adds His perfume into our prayers and makes them beautiful to the Father. "Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice." (Psalms 141:2 NKJV) ![]()
In the Old Testament, lepers were considered unclean, and leprosy on the forehead was considered utterly unclean because it signified an uncleanness in the mind and thoughts. King Uzziah was struck with leprosy when anger rose up in him as he transgressed against the Lord by burning incense in the Temple.
Jesus died at 3pm exactly when the Shofar trumpeted as the sacrifice was offered at the Temple. Luke 1:7-14 - Zacharias and Elizabeth were extremely old. In the Temple, the role that is most coveted by the priests is the burning of incense because the incense would cover the priest and extreme favor from God would be upon him for the next few days. When God is reminded of His Son, His blessings always comes down. "But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth." (Luke 1:7-14 NKJV) Luke 1:18-22 - Zacharias had unbelief. When we try to use logic and reason to disregard God's word, it stems from self-occupation. If Zacharias had said Amen, God would have to renew his strength and youth for His will to be done. God had wisdom in making Zacharias dumb because his unbelief expressed in his words could have disrupted the process of Elizabeth's pregnancy. "Zacharias" means "The Lord remembers" and "Elizabeth" means "My God's promise". God honored His promise and brought forth "John" whose name means "The Lord is grace". After John was born, the moment Zacharias wrote John's name on a tablet, he regained his ability of speech. When you encounter God's grace, your mouth will be loosed. "And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless." (Luke 1:18-22 NKJV) Luke 1:34-35 - Mary said Amen and believed in God's word. She didn't doubt that it would happen, but she wanted to know how it was going to happen. You don't have to worry how to make God's word happen. There is power in His word to make it happen. "Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:34-35 NKJV) We don't go by the world's standards and we don't fit in. We are not the problem but we are the solution. We are 'Divergents'. The world goes by the merit system where you have to earn rewards by your own performance and ability. God blesses us more when we realise how undeserving we are in our own strength. We are kings. When we speak the word, it is done. As kings we have power in our speech over disease, demons and circumstances. We are both kings and priests in Jesus Christ. Luke 24:50-51 - "Bethany" means "House of the poor/afflicted". The Book of Luke begins with a dumb priest. The Book of Luke ends with our High Priest, Jesus Christ, blessing His disciples. Jesus was parted from the disciples - He did not initiate leaving them - these words show how much Jesus loved His disciples, and He loves us like that too. "And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven."
