16 November 2014 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online on Tithing - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online on Tithing - We Don't Have to Tithe, We Get to Tithe!Prophetic Word from Pastor Prince: Upcoming financial earthquake in 2015 that will affect the world. However, whenever the world experiences a downturn, the experience an upturn! Nothing catches God by surprise. There is a theory whereby every 7 years, on the year of rest, there will be a global financial crisis. How a financial crisis affects you depends whether you are Egyptian (Gentile) or Israelite (in this context, Church). It is a transfer of wealth from Egyptian to Israelite. God sees three groups of people on earth: Jew, Gentile, or Church. Hebrews 5:1 - A high priest is appointed for Man's interest, to God. A prophet's role is for God, to Man. There are no more sacrifices for sins left, besides Jesus's sacrifice on the cross, but we still offer gifts. "For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;" (Hebrews 5:1 NASB) Prayer is the only thing that puts God in its proper place as Giver, and man in its proper place as receiver. You have not because you ask not. God wants us as believers to activate our covenant with God by praying to Him. Hebrew 5:10-11 - Melchizedek is only mentioned thrice in the Bible - in the book of Genesis, Psalms and Hebrews. However, He is extremely significant as pointed out by Paul, and is a typification of Jesus Christ, our High Priest forever. Jesus's priesthood is forever according to the order of Melchizedek. "being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing." (Hebrews 5:10, 11 NASB) A lot of grace preachers say that you don't have to tithe, neither do they believe in healing. Grace is not just a truth, it is THE truth. Grace is not a doctrine, it is the person of Jesus Christ. When you come to Jesus for salvation, you come with empty hands. When you come to God for worship, come with your hands full. Abraham gave the tithe to Melchizedek as his testament to the provision of victory given to him from God. Abraham was never under the Law. Luke 11:42 - Jesus does not look at how much you give, He looks at what you hold back. He looks at the attitude of your heart when you give. ""But woe to you Pharisees! For you pay tithe of mint and rue and every kind of garden herb, and yet disregard justice and the love of God; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others." (Luke 11:42 NASB)
We have a perfect High Priest that is interceding for us at every moment. His name is Jesus! When God sees you, He sees you as righteous as Jesus because our High Priest is holy forever, and because He is also our unblemished sacrifice that paid for all our sins once we make Him the Lord and Savior of our lives!
Hebrews 7:1-10 - By giving a tenth of what you have, you are declaring the person that you're giving to to be great. We declare how great Jesus is when we tithe and that He lives. It is an act of worship. The primary reason for tithing shouldn't be because we want to be rich, yet provision comes from God when we tithe. We don't tithe under the Law, but under grace. Tithing affects and blesses our succeeding generations, not just our own lives. "For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually. Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils. And those indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest's office have commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their brethren, although these are descended from Abraham. But the one whose genealogy is not traced from them collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater. In this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives on. And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him." (Hebrews 7:1-10 NASB) Communion is a witness that Jesus died, Tithing is a witness that Jesus lives! The mention of Melchizedek in Psalms 110:4 - "The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek."" (Psalms 110:4 NASB) The things of this world are cursed. When we don't tithe, we allow ourselves to be robbed financially. The act of tithing by faith sanctifies our money. Genesis 45:26-28 - seeing Jesus In this passage: The wagons (the tithe) is a witness that Joseph (Jesus) lives. Once Jacob believed, his spirit is revived and is called Israel again. "They told him, saying, "Joseph is still alive, and indeed he is ruler over all the land of Egypt." But he was stunned, for he did not believe them. When they told him all the words of Joseph that he had spoken to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. Then Israel said, "It is enough; my son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."" (Genesis 45:26-28 NASB) Revelation 22:3 - We as believers are blessed, but the things of the world that we touch are still cursed. The verse speaks of a future time when there will be no more curses when we are with God. "There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him"; (Revelation 22:3 NASB) Malachi 3:10-12 - Tithing prospers us, protects our finances and keeps the devil away. "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts; “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 3:10-12 NKJV) Genesis 7:11-12 - First mention of "windows of heaven" is when God opened them to pour rain on earth. It rained 40 days and 40 nights, that's over a month! When God opens the windows of heaven when we tithe, blessings rain on us for 40 days and 40 nights! "In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights." (Genesis 7:11-12 NKJV) Romans 11:16 - When we tithe with our first 10%, the rest of our 90% is sanctified and made holy. The devil cannot touch what is holy. 10 represents "all" to God. "If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too." (Romans 11:16 NASB) If we broke just one commandment of the Ten Commandments if we were under the Old Covenant, we break all the commandments. It's a spiritual principle of 1 out of 10 (10%) representing all. Genesis 45:19-20, 23 - Another instance of 10 representing all/the whole. The best of Egypt (the world) is ours when we give the tithe. "Now you are commanded—do this: Take carts out of the land of Egypt for your little ones and your wives; bring your father and come. Also do not be concerned about your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’ ” And he sent to his father these things: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain, bread, and food for his father for the journey." (Genesis 45:19, 20, 23 NKJV) Ezekiel 44:1-3, 30 - The passage talks about a future time. Tithing is an everlasting way that we proclaim the greatness of Jesus and that He lives. "Then He brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces toward the east, but it was shut. And the LORD said to me, “This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter by it, because the LORD God of Israel has entered by it; therefore it shall be shut. As for the prince, because he is the prince, he may sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gateway, and go out the same way.” The best of all firstfruits of any kind, and every sacrifice of any kind from all your sacrifices, shall be the priest’s; also you shall give to the priest the first of your ground meal, to cause a blessing to rest on your house." (Ezekiel 44:1-3, 30 NKJV) Genesis 28:20-22 - Jacob made a vow to tithe to God as long as God would keep and provide for him. "Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.”" (Genesis 28:20-22 NKJV) Genesis 31:13 - God remembered the vow that Jacob made and provided for and delivered him. "I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ ”"(Genesis 31:13 NKJV) The Hebrew word for "rich" is in the word "tithe". Tithing makes you rich. We don't have to tithe like under the Law, but we GET TO tithe under the New Covenant of grace. Abraham was circumcised before it was part of the Mosiac covenant, too. If he was circumcised, why doesn't Joseph Prince say we should all be circumcised too? Read Galatians and see how Paul apply that not only to circumcision, but to tithe also. We are not under any curses as believers in Christ.

if I understand you right , does it mean that Without tithing , God will not bless us , protect us and deliver us from evil . is tithing the only requirement for blessing ?

I believe in tithing but the Bible teaches us to bring the tithes into the store house of the Lord. My question is where is the store house of the Lord? Is it a Church building or the local bank? There are very rich denominations (Churches) in this world because of people who give them tithes and offerings substantially; and there are very poor people likewise who don't even know where their next meal will come from. As New Testament Christians should'nt we follow the examples and guidelines of Jesus Christ who fed the hungry both physically and Spiritually? Is giving tithes and offerings to people in need as unto God acceptable?
