6 May 2018 - Perfect Love Casts out Every Fear - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesPraise and Worship songs performed today:
Jesus’ name in Hebrew: Yeshua. It means Salvation. He is here to save you and meet your every need. Don’t let your fears overwhelm you - always go back to the word of God. It is in Christ that we have our confidence. Psalm 23:1 - We don’t have to fear the lack of provision because God has promised we will not lack. King David said that he has been young and old and hasn’t seen the righteous starving or begging for bread. It’s God’s promise of provision. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1 NKJV) I Samuel 21:8-9 - Being fearful, David lied about not bringing a weapon. Here, David is a far cry from when he faced Goliath. Back then he had nothing but trust in the Lord. With the Lord, he conquered Goliath with a sling and a stone. Here, David’s heart is filled with fear and not conscious of the Lord - He is fallen. He placed trust in the weapon more than in God. There are seasons in our lives where we our faith is low. Our spiritual walks have ups and downs. New believers have such a passion and excitement about the things of God. Your awareness of the love of God can be renewed today. “And David said to Ahimelech, “Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.” So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “ There is none like it; give it to me.”” (I Samuel 21:8-9 NKJV) I Samuel 21:10-15 - Whatever you take to your heart has a consequence. David was fearful. People lie when they're under duress. David pretended to be mad because he was afraid of Achish. “Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “ Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?” Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”” (I Samuel 21:10-15 NKJV)
