26 June 2016 - Find Your Position to Possess Your Possessions - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineSunday is the Lord's Day. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples on a Sunday. On a Sunday, Jesus expounded from the Scriptures about the things concerning Himself to the two disciples on the Road to Emmaus. On Sundays, we have to hear something about Christ. That's the solution to our foolishness and slowness of heart to believe. Statistics have shown that people who go to church on Sundays live longer! Don't allow negative news to come into your spirit. Don't waste time reading or watching negative news. For every interview with an opinion given, there is always an opposing view to it. Psalms 91 in the Bible is a psalm that promises God's all-encompassing protection. God's name is mentioned 5 times - the number of grace. There are 3 mentions of habitation in Psalms 91. Psalms 91:1 - "Dwells" is "yashav" which means to sit down. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalms 91:1 NKJV) Psalms 91:9-11 - "Dwelling place" in Hebrew is "maon" which means a place of safety. In the Hebrew, the word "plague" is the word for "stroke". No stroke will come near your dwelling. “Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.” (Psalms 91:9-11 NKJV) Psalms 91:16 - "Salvation" is "Yeshua" which is the name of Jesus. We can ask God for long life. It is not to satisfy God, but to satisfy us! “With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”” (Psalms 91:16 NKJV) If you find your position, you will find your possession. Position before possession. Living under the Law is based on human efforts. Grace is based on God's promises. The food on this earth is fallen food. The earth is under the curse. Bless your food before you eat - Therein lies the blessing. If you do things by the flesh, you may get immediate results but it is limited and confined. If you wait on the Lord, it may take longer, but it will be much greater in quality, according to the limitless supply of the Spirit. Colossians 2:10 - We lack for nothing. We are complete in Him now. Our understanding is always playing catch up with God's truths. We are already placed at the finish-line at the beginning of our journey as a believer. “and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:10 NKJV) When we take holy communion to receive healing, we must partake in the position of rest, declaring our faith that we are already healing, and not in the position of trying to be healed. To be healed, we must go into deeper rest in Christ, rather than trying harder to be healed which produces stress. Deuteronomy 28:1-3 - We are set far above all powers and principalities. Christianity begins with DONE, not DO. We walk not to be complete, but we walk in completion. We come with a sense of fullness, not of emptiness. God wants us to feel secure, deeply loved, liberally supplied, highly favored and greatly blessed. A favorite tactic of the devil today is to create a sense of insecurity, that anything bad can happen to you at any moment. ““Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.” (Deuteronomy 28:1-3 NKJV) Ephesians 2:4-7 - In God's viewpoint, we are now seated in heaven with Christ. Compared to God's viewpoint we cannot understand many things. We have to take God's word by faith. Faith is not blind, faith is intelligent. Faith is based on superior authority, reality, wisdom and intelligence beyond us. If we trust God's intelligence, we got to trust His word and go by faith. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7 NKJV) Psalms 92:13 - If you try to obtain something through striving and through your fleshly efforts, it is form of unbelief. However, if you rest, you are honouring God, showing that you trust Him. “Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalms 92:13 NKJV) Luke 4:3-13 - The constant theme of the devil is to leave out the word "beloved". It is counterproductive for the devil to remind Jesus that He is loved by God. Jesus never fought the devil with the spoken word of God, but through the written word of God. To defeat Satan, quote "It is written..." “And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ” Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.” (Luke 4:3-13 NKJV)
In God's viewpoint, we are now seated in heaven with Christ. Compared to God's viewpoint we cannot understand many things. We have to take God's word by faith. Faith is not blind, faith is intelligent. Faith is based on superior authority, reality, wisdom and intelligence beyond us. If we trust God's intelligence, we got to trust His word and go by faith.
Don't go by your feelings, go by the word of God. Your feelings can go up and down, but God's word never changes. Don't fly by the seat of your pants. Trust your instrument - the word of God, not your feelings - Especially when there is darkness all around. You don't have to pray loud or soft - you just pray. Know that you have influence with God who loves you. Know that you are close with God. Don't rush to start praying for someone - spend a few moments before praying to sense and remind yourself that you are loved and close to God. Carnal Christians pray from earth to heaven, but we should be praying from heaven, downwards to earth. There is no natural light in the Holy of Holies. All the light in there is the Shekinah glory which is brighter than the sun. Don't depend on the natural light taught by science. Go into the Holy of Holies and see God's Shekinah glory. There is no death for a Christian. To die is gain. The first thing when a Christian steps out of his/her body after bodily death is to feel perfect happiness and freedom! The Bible says that we as believers will be persecuted for Jesus' name's sake. How should we respond? Rejoice! For great is our reward in heaven! Acts 22:25-29 - Paul eventually learnt how to use his citizenship as a Roman citizen to avoid harm. The lesson is this: If you don't open your mouth, you will suffer. Learn to use your citizenship of heaven. "And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and uncondemned?” When the centurion heard that, he went and told the commander, saying, “Take care what you do, for this man is a Roman.” Then the commander came and said to him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said, “Yes.” The commander answered, “With a large sum I obtained this citizenship.” And Paul said, “But I was born a citizen.” Then immediately those who were about to examine him withdrew from him; and the commander was also afraid after he found out that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him." (Acts 22:25-29 NKJV) Philippians 1:21-25 - Paul could decide when to die. Paul is talking like he's got power over death. “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,” (Philippians 1:21-25 NKJV) When a believer is in a comatose state and they see heaven, earth pales to them, and they may choose to move on. It's up to them to decide. When a believer dies, we shouldn't pity them. They are in a better place and state that before! We are weeping for our own loss and not for them. Matthew 7:13-14 - Jesus said that narrow is the way to life in the present tense because at that time there was only Him and the few disciples. In the end-times, the gospel will make inroads and there will be a lot of believers! ““Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV) II Timothy 4:6-7 - Paul had already completed what he needed to do. His body was too full of resurrection life to die of sickness and disease, so much that the fastest way for him to take off was to smile at the guy at the chopping block and say "Jesus loves you". “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (II Timothy 4:6-7 NKJV) Psalms 90:9-11 - We are no longer under God's wrath. God's wrath was all poured out on Jesus at the cross. “For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh. The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.” (Psalms 90:9-11 NKJV) Genesis 6:3 - 120 years is God's statement of judgement. We can live much longer now that we are in Christ. Such statements bring about revelations that extends your faith and causes you to reach out for more of God's promises. “And the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”” (Genesis 6:3 NKJV) Hebrews 1:10-12 - This is talking about Jesus. Jesus will never grow old. “And: “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail.”” (Hebrews 1:10-12 NKJV) Psalms 102:24-25 - You can pray for long life. “I said, “O my God, Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are throughout all generations. Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.” (Psalms 102:24-25 NKJV) The name Goliath means "to strip (naked)". The devil wants to strip is to make us feel uncovered, naked and insecure. A preacher who leaves the congregation feeling that they are loved defeats the enemy. Psalms 92:13-15 - The age can be old, but it doesn't mean that the person has to be old. The word "fresh" means full of sap in the Hebrew. And "flourishing" means green leaf in the Hebrew. We are young! Even God the Father is young. No one is old in heaven. One day in heaven we will know that it is not God's plan for man to grow old. “Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” (Psalms 92:13-15 NKJV) Jesus died young at 33 years old, that we might live long. Jesus died as if unprotected, so that we would be perpetually protected. Jesus cried "My God, My God..." so that we can cry "My Father, My Father...". Jesus cried out "Why have you forsaken Me?" so that we can always have God's presence with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
