20 July 2014 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Psalm 91 (Part 1)Psalm 91 (AMP) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the Fowler and from the deadly pestilence. [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation. Our offering and giving to church gives us a share in the reward for work for the Kingdom of God. Grace always produces good works. No one does more good works that those who really believe that they are justified by faith. Ezekiel 38-39 - A big place given to Rosh (Russia) in the end-times prophecy - Meshech (Moscow) and Tubal (Tobolsk), they will come down to invade Israel. Their armies will be destroyed by God Himself on the mountains of Israel. "And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince (ruler) of Rosh, of Meshech, and of Tubal. And I will turn you about and will lead you on, and will cause you to come up from the uttermost parts of the north and will lead you against the mountains of Israel; And I will smite your bow from your left hand and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand. You shall fall [dead] upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your hosts and the peoples who are with you. I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. You shall fall in the open field, for I have spoken [it], says the Lord God." (Ezekiel 39:1-5, AMP) This is a season where God wants us to focus on His divine protection - Psalm 91. Don't make your mind and your reasoning your Bible. The Word of God is the final authority. When you meet a pastor and you call them that, you tap into the pastoral anointing. Security is found in the middle of God's will. Just because someone can teach the Bible and is called a pastor does not make him a pastor. A pastor has God's hand on his life and there has to be growth. Prayer is a transaction of covenant. When God rules, there is perfect peace. Psalm 91:2 - Psalm 91 operates when we declare it by faith. "I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!" (Psalm 91:2, AMP) God works both the day and night shift. God shows Himself strong for those who trust in Him. Psalm 91 promises protection in the day and night, darkness and noonday. We are protected all-day long. God wants us to rest (sit down). Before God blesses us, He sits us down on high. First, position. Then, blessing. We are seated at the right hand of the Father, in Jesus Christ. Genesis 14:18 - first mention of "God Most High" as well as the first mention of holy communion (bread and wine), Genesis 17 - first mention of "Almighty God". In Genesis 15-16 , we will find out what is the secret place of the Most High. "Melchizedek king of Salem [later called Jerusalem] brought out bread and wine [for their nourishment]; he was the priest of God Most High," (Genesis 14:18, AMP) "When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete)." (Genesis 17:1, AMP) Daniel 4:30-32 - The Most High God gives a kingdom to whomever He chooses. Humble yourself before God. Put yourself low so that you fear no fall. Wait for God to raise you up. "The king said, Is not this the great Babylon that I have built as the royal residence andseat of government by the might of my power and for the honor and glory of my majesty? While the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you, And you shall be driven from among men and your dwelling will be with the living creatures of the field. You will be made to eat grass like the oxen, and seven times [or years] shall pass over you until you have learned and know that the Most High [God] rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He will." (Daniel 4:30-32, AMP) You can blog all you want, write and speak all you want, but if God doesn't give you weight in your words, they will still fall flat to the ground. Don't give the weightiness in your words to your critics. If God chooses to give prosperity (finances, diamonds, gold) to you, He will give it to you. We don't have to seek illegal sources or demonic forces for prosperity. God loves to give to the humble. Water always looks for the lowest position to settle at. Every step down we take before God, God will raise us one step up. When Jesus was alive as a man, everything about the world recognised Him as God, except for men. The world recognises its Master. The greatest prosperity is to know Jesus.
Genesis 14:18-20 - People will tithe when they recognise how great God is. They need not be threatened or forced. "Melchizedek king of Salem [later called Jerusalem] brought out bread and wine [for their nourishment]; he was the priest of God Most High, And he blessed him and said, Blessed (favored with blessings, made blissful, joyful) be Abram by God Most High, Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth, And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken]." (Genesis 14:18-20, AMP) Genesis 17:1 - God is Almighty, meaning that there is no room for our own effort. "When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete)." (Genesis 17:1, AMP) Genesis 15:5-6 - We are justified not by our works, and only by faith. The twelve constellations in Abram's time told the story of the gospel. It begins with the Virgin carrying the baby (Virgo) and ends off with Jesus as the victorious Lion of Judah (Leo). God preached the gospel to him through the stars. When God said number the stars, it meant to "tell the story of the stars". "And He brought him outside [his tent into the starlight] and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars—if you are able to number them. Then He said to him, So shall your descendants be. And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness (right standing with God)." (Genesis 15:5-6, AMP) Genesis 16:1-4 - "10" is the number of the Law. Sarai is a picture of grace and Hagar is a picture of the Law. After we are justified by faith, put grace over the Law. Law must submit to grace, and it must never exalt itself above grace. "Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. She had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said to Abram, See here, the Lord has restrained me from bearing [children]. I am asking you to have intercourse with my maid; it may be that I can obtain children by her. And Abram listened to and heeded what Sarai said. So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her Egyptian maid, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his [secondary] wife. And he had intercourse with Hagar, and she became pregnant; and when she saw that she was with child, she looked with contempt upon her mistress and despised her." (Genesis 16:1-4, AMP) God put faith (Abram) and grace (Sarai) together, not faith (Abram) and law (Hagar). When we cannot (in the natural), God can. The Secret Place of the Most High is where we are justified by faith and we are blessed through grace and not our own works (the Law). Psalm 91:1-2 - Most High: Elyon, Almighty: Shaddai, Lord: Yahweh (Covenant-keeping God), God: Elohim (Trinity God). "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!" (Psalm 91:1-2, AMP) As long as we seek Yahweh (Covenant-keeping God), Elohim (Trinity God) will make us prosper. YHVH - The name of God in acrostic on the signboard on the Cross: Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. God cannot force protection over us if we don't want it.
