17 June 2018 - The Power in Knowing God as your Father - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPraise and Worship songs performed: (I missed out songs before this)
Last year in September 2017, the Lord spoke to Pastor Joseph Prince to pray for the salvation of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un. At that time relations between USA and North Korea were very tense. But praise Jesus that just a few days ago, Singapore hosted the Trump-Kim Summit. In just less than a year, relations turned around for good. It’s like a heavenly wink from God. President Donald Trump called Singapore a country of profound grace and beauty. Of all the words he could have said, he said “grace”. A word that we in New Creation Church are so familiar with. Prayer changes everything. You can pray and things will turn around for your good. Just coming to service on Sunday is not enough - We need to be in constant contact with God’s word throughout the week. We also need to be constantly connected through kingdom friendships. John 17:6 - The prayer in John 17 is the longest prayer by Jesus recorded in the Bible. It is called the High Priestly Prayer because He was interceding for us to God. Jesus looked into the future and was interceding for us who would believe in Him. Jesus came to reveal a name of God that was not commonly known to the people. There are many names of God: Elohim (Creator God - it’s a plural name which points to the triune nature of God), Yahweh (Covenant-keeping God), El-Shaddai (Almighty God), and more. Jesus came to reveal the name “Father” (Abba). The name of God as Father was revealed in the Old Testament but it was not commonly used. Examples of places in the Old Testament where God is referred to as Father: Psalm 103 and Isaiah 9. ““I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.” (John 17:6 NKJV) “As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him.” (Psalms 103:13 NKJV) “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV) John 17:11-12 - When you know God as Father, there is a protective power made available for you. If you call God “Creator”, you will feel distant from Him. If you call God “Father”, you will feel close and there is an intimacy. Fear is irrational. When we feel fearful, we can run to our Heavenly Father Who is completely fearless. “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.” (John 17:11-12 NKJV) Psalm 91 is saying that the protection we yearn for is found when we are near to God. We are so close to God - we are in the shadow of the Almighty.

6 May 2018 - Perfect Love Casts out Every Fear - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon NotesPraise and Worship songs performed today:
Jesus’ name in Hebrew: Yeshua. It means Salvation. He is here to save you and meet your every need. Don’t let your fears overwhelm you - always go back to the word of God. It is in Christ that we have our confidence. Psalm 23:1 - We don’t have to fear the lack of provision because God has promised we will not lack. King David said that he has been young and old and hasn’t seen the righteous starving or begging for bread. It’s God’s promise of provision. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1 NKJV) I Samuel 21:8-9 - Being fearful, David lied about not bringing a weapon. Here, David is a far cry from when he faced Goliath. Back then he had nothing but trust in the Lord. With the Lord, he conquered Goliath with a sling and a stone. Here, David’s heart is filled with fear and not conscious of the Lord - He is fallen. He placed trust in the weapon more than in God. There are seasons in our lives where we our faith is low. Our spiritual walks have ups and downs. New believers have such a passion and excitement about the things of God. Your awareness of the love of God can be renewed today. “And David said to Ahimelech, “Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.” So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “ There is none like it; give it to me.”” (I Samuel 21:8-9 NKJV) I Samuel 21:10-15 - Whatever you take to your heart has a consequence. David was fearful. People lie when they're under duress. David pretended to be mad because he was afraid of Achish. “Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “ Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?” Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”” (I Samuel 21:10-15 NKJV) 18 March 2018 - The Anointing is in the House of God - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlinePraise and Worship Songs that were performed today: Freely Forgiven - New Creation Worship At the Cross (Love Ran Red) - Chris Tomlin When I Look into Your Holiness - Wayne and Cathy Perrin Reckless Love - Cory Asbury When believers gather together for church, something good will happen. There is a place in Israel called Bethel. Bethel means “House of God”. The first mention of Bethel is when Jacob was there. When God gave Abraham the promise of a child, there was also evidence contrary to the promise. Abraham and Sarah were both barren. Genesis 25:20-21 - Isaac is Abraham’s direct descendant. Abraham and Sarah were once barren. Now Rebekah was also barren. When Isaac saw evidence contrary to the promise again (he knew about his parents' struggle in conceiving him) in his life, he pleaded to God - he stood on the promise of God. The Bible says that all the promises of God in Christ are Yes and Amen. Keep on pressing in and don’t give up. “Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.” (Genesis 25:20-21 NKJV) Genesis 25:24-26 - God gave the once-barren Rebekah twins. When God answers your prayer, He oversupplies. He gives you above all that you can think or imagine. Esau means hairy. Jacob means supplanter (because he grabbed his brother’s heel). Isaac waited 20 years for God’s promise to come to pass. He was probably discouraged, but he held on and believed God. “So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.” (Genesis 25:24-26 NKJV) You are as young as you think you are in Christ. Start leaning in and taking hold of the promises of God. Don’t go by the natural and what you see. Believe what’s in God’s word. There was a problem. Isaac loved Esau because Esau was good at hunting game. Whereas Rebekah loved Jacob more. Rebekah came up with a scheme to trick her own husband to give Jacob the firstborn blessing instead of to Esau. Esau vowed to kill Jacob for stealing the firstborn blessing, after Isaac his father dies. Rebekah overheard Esau saying this and secretly told Jacob to run away and return only when Esau’s anger had subsided. That is how Jacob arrives at Bethel. 24 December 2017 - The Greatest Gift of All - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Christmas Service 2017 - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Christmas Sermon 2017“Santa Claus is Coming to Town” is written by a parent. It is used to threaten a child that if they don’t behave, they will not receive any Christmas presents from the mythical figure Santa Claus. Usually the cost of a Christmas gift is directly proportional to our love for the person. The greater the love, the greater the gift. Jesus is everything to us. Luke 2:10-11 - Jesus’ job is to save. His name means “Yahweh Saves”. “Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:13-14 NKJV) Matthew 1:20-21 - Jesus didn’t come to judge us for our sins. He came to save us from our sins. “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”” (Matthew 1:20-21 NKJV) Luke 2:14 - There is peace on earth because sinful man finally has peace with God and we can have peace in our lives because God takes care of all our needs. ““Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”” (Luke 2:14 NKJV) 10 December 2017 - Right Believing is the Secret to Overcoming Sin - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes OnlineWe bring great delight to our Heavenly Father. Do you have 'Pike Syndrome'? Quoted from Integrity Works Coaching: "The pike is a large fish that survives by eating smaller fish. An experiment was conducted years ago where the pike was placed in a large fish tank. Then several smaller fish were introduced into the tank, but separated from the pike by keeping them within in a large, bottomless, glass jar. The jar was submerged to the bottom of the tank, closing them off completely from the pike. Of course, the pike didn’t know this and immediately struck at the minnows. In fact, the pike hit the glass over and over until, frustrated and “conditioned”, it settled at the bottom, right next to the minnows. After a while, the jar was lifted, and the minnows swam all around the pike and throughout the large tank. And yet, the pike remained motionless. Indeed, the pike never tried again and died in that tank with its main source of food and survival right in front of it!" Have you been conditioned to wrongly believe a certain way about God? Luke 6:45 - Your life is a reflection of what you see and believe in your heart. When you change what you see with your spiritual eyes, your external life will also change. That’s why right believing will lead to right living. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 NKJV) Proverbs 4:20-23 - Keep visual images of God’s word in your heart. What do you believe about yourself and about God? What you believe will affect your life and your circumstances. Knowing and believing in the truth will set you free. “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:20-23 NKJV) Revelation 12:9-11 - Satan is actually afraid of you, not because of you but because of who is in you. You are the child of the Most High God. You have the power to trample over the power of the enemy because of Christ in you. Every condemning thought in you is not from the Holy Spirit, it’s from the devil. The devil is the accuser of the brethren. The Holy Spirit convicts you of your righteousness, that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Revelation 12:9-11 NKJV) 22 October 2017 - We Have Been Forgiven Once and for All - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes OnlineLove is a fulfilment of the Law. Jesus demonstrated His love for you at the cross. If you’re living life all alone without Christian friends around you, you need to engage the believers around you and make them part of your life. The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone without kingdom friendships. Be planted in your local church by finding a way to serve. Don’t just drift into church on Sundays and then leave without making any connections. We come to church not to endure church, but to enjoy church. Don’t read books or listen to sermons as a work to earn your blessings. Do them to enjoy the Lord. You don’t need to fake it till you make it. When you get the revelation of how much God loves you, your response of love will come naturally. Matthew 6:33 - We have to seek first the truth that we are the righteousness of God in Christ, and then all these things will be added to us. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV) Romans 14:17 - This the definition of the kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17 NKJV) 1 October 2017 - Secrets of Youth Renewal: A Tale of Two Old Men - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineGod’s supply of grace for you is always greater than the situation that you’re in. We can rely on the grace of God everyday to keep us in all our ways. When you believe in Jesus, your sins are forgiven and you remain as the righteousness of God in Him. God is not imputing sin to you today. He does not see your sin, only your righteousness. Christ is your righteousness. In 1967, Jerusalem was taken back by the nation of Israel after the Six Day War. The times of the Gentiles as mentioned by Jesus have been fulfilled and we are about to enter into a new Millenia. We become Christians not to suffer for Jesus but to enjoy His blessings. God swore by Himself (there is no one greater) that He will surely bless us. II Samuel 17:27-29 - The first old man in this sermon is Barzillai. Barzillai was a blessing in David’s time of need. “Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim, brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched grain and beans, lentils and parched seeds, honey and curds, sheep and cheese of the herd, for David and the people who were with him to eat. For they said, “The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.”” (II Samuel 17:27-29 NKJV) 28 May 2017 - The Secret to True Transformation - Pastor Joseph Prince and Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince Interview with Joni Lamb on Daystar Television Network's "Joni Table Talk" TV program: Preaching about right living doesn't produce right living. If you attempt to live right but have wrong believing, you can't do it. If you are experiencing toxic emotions, it shows that there is wrong believing somewhere. Our beliefs determine our thoughts, our thoughts determine our emotions and our emotions determine our actions. It doesn't take the anointing to preach the Law. It takes the Holy Spirit's anointing to preach grace. John 3 - About Nicodemus, the "master of Israel". Jesus talked to Nicodemus like a theologian, and yet He told Nicodemus that he needed to be born again. John 4 - About the sinner woman. Jesus never told her that she needed to be born again. He used natural illustrations to talk to her. Jesus revealed Himself as the Messiah to the woman. You will never know that you are loved until the person knows everything about you and still says "I love you". Christianity is not about behavior modification. It's about heart transformation. We are saved and justified without works, but by faith. The Law presupposes man's strength. God knew that man cannot keep the Law. The Law is all about "you shall not". The New Covenant of grace is all about "I will" - it's about who God is and what He will do. God dealt with Israel by grace when He brought them out from Egypt. When Israel was given the Law, they immediately broke the first commandment - they made and worshipped the golden calf. The Law caused man to boast in his own strength and it led to sin. 4 December 2016 - Hearts Transformed by Love and Grace - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineOne of the most precious things that we are praying for is the salvation of our family members. The Lord will do a marvelous work for us in our lives. Great blessings await those who serve the Lord. There is a special honor for those who serve the Lord. Isaiah 9:6 - Our God is called "Wonderful" and "Counsellor". What we need is wisdom from Jesus. “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV) In five days, God created the universe and everything in it, and He said that it was good. On the sixth day, God created man and He said it was very good! We are the crown of God's creation, and we take His breath away. Genesis 1:27-28 - The very first thing that God did after creating man is to bless him (without condition). His heart is to bless us. We have a good God. God's heart is to bless the family unit of man and the marriage of man. “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV) 21 August 2016 - Be a Spiritual Warfare Champion! - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineWhen you prepare to preach a sermon, the easy part is preparing the sermon. The difficult part is preparing your heart - you cannot preach while angry, bitter, etc. II Corinthians 10:3-5 - As Christians, we are engaged in spiritual warfare. Our adversary is the devil. The warfare is waged in our minds, through our thoughts. The devil wants to manipulate our thought-life. He wants to plant evil thoughts in our minds to drag us down. When you believe something internally, you will act on that belief and what is internal will be expressed externally. Our adversary is small. He (the Holy Spirit) who is in us is greater than he (the devil) who is in the world. II Corinthians 10:5 does not say "bring every thought into captivity to the obedience TO Christ". It says "obedience OF Christ". “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (II Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV) Romans 5:19 - The obedience of Christ refers to what Jesus has done for us at the cross. We are saved because of His obedience, not because of our obedience. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19 NKJV) |
