20 August 2017 - How to Finally Get Your Long-Awaited Healing - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineThe imagery of shepherd and flock in the Bible promotes healing. When a pastor sees the congregation as the Good Shepherd's flock, they receive healing. The number one imagery of Jesus in the Bible is as a Good Shepherd. Don't find fault with people who fall sick. Even a fit person can get sick. See sick people as children who have fallen into a pit. The priority is to get them out. "Pit" has the idea of an enemy who has set up a trap. Sickness comes because of a spiritual attack. I Peter 2:24-25 - The emphasis is not on the work of healing but on the Person of Jesus - "Who his own self... in his own body..." The Holy Spirit emphasizes the Person because the benefits lie with Jesus. You want to experience the benefits of the finished work? Go to Jesus! When you believe that you are righteous, the promise of "by whose stripes ye were healed" is yours. The word "stripes" here should be translated as "stripe" (the Greek uses the singular tense) because there was not even a sliver of skin left on Jesus' back. When you receive Jesus' skin by faith, you receive His radiance, complexion and healing. “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:24-25 KJV) Matthew 8:17 - Again the focus is on Jesus - "He Himself took..." “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”” (Matthew 8:17 NKJV) Singing to and praising the Lord doesn't benefit Him. It is so that we can magnify Him in our eyes, to have the faith to believe in His promises.
