10 April 2016 - God's Light In Your Dwelling - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes OnlineTestimony of a blessed restored marriage shared by Pastor Joseph Prince: This brother in Christ from Illinois was jobless and having marital problems. He believed that he was being punished for his sins. He believed that God brought him into bad times to teach him lessons. He got entangled in pornography. When he read the book "Destined to Reign" he was impacted by grace and he kept declaring that "I am the righteousness of God in Christ!". The addiction effortlessly left him. He says that now he is empowered through Christ. He also received a job that is much better than before, and his marriage is now restored and much better than before. Church is where the spiritual food is being put out for us to be fed. We don't have to tithe, we GET TO tithe. When God asks you to give to Him, He's setting you up for a blessing! Jesus asked to use Peter's boat, which led to Peter having a net-breaking, boat-sinking load of fishes. Jesus' blood cleansed all our sin debt. The deck is now cleared. Whatever you give now is a seed you sow, not a debt you owe! If you sow a seed, you get a tree with many seeds and fruits back. What you give to God will never come back the same. God will always out-give man. He will never be indebted to you because He is greater than you in every way! Commercialism is something that God gives, but we should not become absorbed by it. Communism is not God's way. God's way is Capitalism, industry, and business. Pastor Prince has never approached anyone, rich or poor, to ask for money, and by the grace of God, he will never have to. Psalms 128:3-4 - The fruitful vine is for producing wine, not grape juice. Corn, wine and oil are three important commodities in Israel in Jesus' time. Jesus' first miracle was to turn miracle into wine. He compressed time. "You have kept the best wine until now". The end time generation is the most blessed compared to previous generations. God doesn't believe in drunkenness. He wants you to walk in the glory of God. Jesus didn't dress wealthy-ly, but He is majestic and stately. “Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the LORD.” (Psalms 128:3-4 NKJV) We are the branches. Jesus is the Vine. We don't have to try to be a branch. Just be a branch. Don't try to be the vine. Rest in the Vine (Jesus). Many believers struggle too hard. They try to supply themselves. For a Christian, your own effort is a mistake. All you have to do is to let go completely. Just know Who is the Source - Jesus. Point people to the Source. If you have an addiction like pornography or smoking, just rest and say "Jesus this is Your problem, not my problem.". Without Him, you can do nothing. You can't break your own addictions. When the devil knocks at your door, let Christ in you answer the door, not you. The responsibility to produce belongs to the Vine. Jesus said "Without Me you can do nothing" (John 15). We really cannot do anything without Jesus. We can't even make ourselves. That's the most basic level. The problem with us is that we always feel we need to do something. We should trust Jesus that we'll be fully prepared to produce everything that we need to produce. Exodus 10:21-23 - This is where the world is today, spiritually-speaking. All the people of God have light in their dwellings, despite the world around them being in deep darkness. The Egyptians who had more supply, resources and fuel, could not turn on the light. But the Hebrew slaves had supernatural light in their dwellings. The darkness is a supernatural darkness and it can only be driven away by supernatural light. The deep darkness is only laying the background for believers to shine brightly. “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” (Exodus 10:21-23 NKJV) God doesn't see individual nations - the only nation that belongs to God right now is Israel. When God looks down on the earth, He only sees Jews, Gentiles and the Church. Everything in Matthew 24 is meant for the Jews. It's talking about the signs of Jesus' Second Coming. The church will not be there in what Jesus is talking about. The church will already have been enraptured earlier on. The world now is intolerant of people who are intolerant of sinful lifestyles. We have this generation where people are calling good, evil, and evil, good. This is a condition when God's people is not on top. The heathens are on top. There's no such thing as a Christian nation on earth. A Christian nation means that every citizen would have to be a born-again believer. There's only Christian people. These moral issues are present because there is no sap coming out from the Vine in their lives. They are not even in the Vine. Why are we shocked when we see sinners sinning? Sinners sin. God hates the sin in the sinner, but He loves the sinner. The light is made more obvious now in this world of deep darkness. You can't fully remove the problem just by removing the cancer. Spears and swords (modern technology and the likes) can't remove a spiritual problem. Matthew 5:15 - The basket represents commerce and measurement. Don't be overly-commercialized and in the process, cover your light. If you are a businessperson, don't do your business and try to cover or hide the fact that you are a believer. “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” (Matthew 5:15 NKJV) Luke 8:16 - A bed represents laziness and self-indulgence. Don't let your light be covered by your laziness and self-indulgence. ““No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.” (Luke 8:16 NKJV) Wherever believers are, they push back the darkness. A true story shared by Pastor Prince: In Africa, there was a witch that performed miracles and incantations, and one day, an elderly lady who was just going home from church passed by her. The witch fell to the ground, whining and crying. Her colleagues and friends asked her what happened and why she was so fearful. The witch replied, "Didn't you see the ball of light behind??" You never know how you affect the world around you as a believer. Even if you can't, the world of darkness and the devil can see your light. Don't become worldly in your thinking and start to just accept whatever sickness or disease that affects you or your loved ones. Just rebuke the sickness and discomfort in Jesus' name!
This is where the world is today, spiritually-speaking.
Exodus 10:9-12 - Pharaoh represents the devil Satan. Worldliness is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The devil tries to make you compromise in your life. The children of Israel can't have the feast in Egypt. They have to have it outside of Egypt. Pharaoh tried to only allow the men go out of Egypt to worship the Lord, and not the others. Don't have worldliness in your life. Have your family with you for church. In God's light, we see light. If you love your child, don't have a sick-sentimentalism and give them everything that they want. Don't kill them that way. Don't leave your family in Egypt when you are in church. Just one word from God can change your life. Don't rob your child of that. If your child is still taking allowance from you and living under your roof and you still have some authority as parents over their lives, use that authority. Bring your children to church with you. If you're afraid to cause a crisis between you and your child, just create it anyway. It is better for your child this way. Don't be afraid of crisis. Christ is in the crisis. “And Moses said, “We will go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we will go, for we must hold a feast to the LORD.” Then he said to them, “The LORD had better be with you when I let you and your little ones go! Beware, for evil is ahead of you. Not so! Go now, you who are men, and serve the LORD, for that is what you desired.” And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land—all that the hail has left.”” (Exodus 10:9-12 NKJV) If we have Christ, when we win, we win, and when we lose, we still win. We always win! Jonah 1:3 - Jonah disobeyed God - instead of going to Nineveh, he went down to Joppa. Whenever you don't listen to God, you go down. Later, Jonah went even further down when he was swallowed by the whale (big fish). "But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. So he went down to Joppa, found a ship which was going to Tarshish, paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD." (Jonah 1:3 NKJV) Jonah 4:1-5 - Jonah wanted the opposite result of what he preached. He was angry when Nineveh repented. Jonah didn't want to go to Nineveh because he knew that God's nature is gracious. He knew that God would spare the city. See the gracious heart of your God! Jonah went out of the city and waited there, still hoping that God would judge and destroy Nineveh! “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. So he prayed to the LORD, and said, “Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!” Then the LORD said, “ Is it right for you to be angry?” So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city.” (Jonah 4:1-5 NKJV) Hell is real. It came from our loving and gracious Savior Jesus' mouth that in hell, the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched. It is a place of torment where there is gnashing of teeth. Universalism (the belief that everyone is saved) is a lie from the pit of hell. The devil doesn't want you to know the truth that you need to believe in Jesus to be saved. Only whoever believes in Jesus is saved. Jonah 4:9-11 - This is what God thinks of every city in the world. He sees each city as one that can't discern between their right hand and their left. Judgement will come eventually, but this is the compassionate heart of God towards the world. “Then God said to Jonah, “ Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” And he said, “ It is right for me to be angry, even to death!” But the LORD said, “You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night. And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left—and much livestock?”” (Jonah 4:9-11 NKJV) Isaiah 49:24-25 - As a believer who is a parent, you are the righteous. "Taken away" should be translated as "released". God will save your children from their sinful lifestyles and addictions! “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? But thus says the LORD: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children.” (Isaiah 49:24-25 NKJV) God wants to save households. God is a family-God. He told Noah to bring his family into the Ark. If you want your household to be established, start with the husband being established in the Lord. The stability of the husband will cause the wife and children to be established too.
