23 August 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Reign in Life through Sexual Purity!
The gospel is all about God's goodness. Man in the flesh cannot receive the goodness of God. That's why they can't receive the grace of God. Man in his flesh only has hard thoughts about God. The number one way that the devil makes man leave God's love is by making them think that God is not that good, and that restrictions placed by God is to withhold something good from man. The goodness of God leads us to repentance. Matthew 7:21-23 - This is talking about people who are not saved, who never put their trust in Jesus. "in that day" represents the day where Jesus returns to earth as judge in His second coming. In that day, unbelievers will finally see that Jesus is God and in their panic they will call Him Lord, but they will be too late. "“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’" (Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV) Jesus came to earth to give His life as a Lamb, but He is returning as a Lion to exact vengeance upon the antichrist and judge the unbelieving world. God never made a democracy, He made a theocracy. Everything in the universe obeys God except for man. God is not out to kill people - He is out to save people. John 6:40 - To do the will of the Father means for everyone who sees Jesus to believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior. "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”" (John 6:40 NKJV) I Corinthians 15:10 - It is possible for God's grace towards you to be in vain. He won't force you to act upon that grace that you have received. When you have the grace gift from God, you will have a desire to minister in that area. If the calling and grace is there and you step into it, the grace will start working. For employers, access the employees for promotions, increments and bonuses based on their works. Their results produced will show how much grace they stepped into. Their performance reflects how much grace they are using in their life. "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." (I Corinthians 15:10 NKJV) "Length of days" doesn't mean "long life", but it means how many things you can accomplish or complete in a day. Don't confound holiness with righteousness. Holiness means "set apart". The opposite of holiness is "commonness". Sex is something that God wants us to confine within the context of marriage. For sex, if it is confined with marriage, it's 'explosive'. If it is not, it dissipates. God designed for sex to be pleasurable. The greatest miracle (the creation of a new child) on this side of heaven happens in the moment of greatest intimacy. Titus 2:11-13 - Three time zones of God's grace - 1) Grace appeared by Jesus coming, 2) Grace teaching us now in the present age, and 3) looking for the blessed hope of the coming of Christ in the Rapture. "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ," (Titus 2:11-13 NKJV) When man teaches, it's behavior modification. When grace teaches, it's heart transformation. Genesis 39:6-12 - Joseph lived before the The Law was ever given. Joseph was practicing the presence of God with him. The only way to respond to lust and sexual temptation is to RUN AWAY from it. Don't ever say that you can handle it. Confidence in the flesh leads to a breakout of sin, followed by guilt. Guilt perpetuates the vicious cycle of sin. "Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, “Lie with me.” But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her. But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside." (Genesis 39:6-12 NKJV) John 19:10-11 - There are degrees of sin. Here Jesus says that Caiaphas, the High Priest who delivered Jesus to Pontius Pilate, has a greater sin than Pontius Pilate. "Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?” Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”" (John 19:10-11 NKJV) I Corinthians 6:16 - Sexual sin is a sin against one's own body. Our body is where sicknesses manifest. If you are not saved, sleeping with harlots fills your body with evil spirits. If you are saved, even if you fall into sin, your body is still the temple of the Holy Spirit - God has a vision of grandeur for your body. As a Christian, we are bought by God at the ultimate price of the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Keep yourself sexually pure and people will see the glory of God in your body! "Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." (I Corinthians 6:16-20 NKJV) Sexual energy that is not released through sex can be transmuted into creativity. The world's most creative and successful people have high sex drives, but they transmuted their sexual energy into their work. I Corinthians 6:1-6 - Paul is a grace preacher. He never condemns the church for their sins - he reminds the church about the grand vision that God has for them, to encourage them to live a life that glorifies God. "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!" (I Corinthians 6:1-6 NKJV) I Thessalonians 4:3-8 - Even the world looks upon adultery with disapproval. Have respect for your body. Ladies, don't dress to lure and seduce, dress to be pure - to shine with God's glory. God will always take sides - God's goodness and mercy endures forever towards His people (believers), not towards unbelievers. "For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit." (I Thessalonians 4:3-8 NKJV) If you are addicted to pornography and you're married, your spouse will look uglier and uglier in your mind. Confessing sin all the time makes you sin-conscious and tempted again. Confessing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ honors God, and delivers you from addictions.
Joseph lived before the The Law was ever given.
John 8:2-11 - The Pharisees boasted in the Law. Sinners rely on God's grace. The Lord Jesus unleashed the full heat of Mt Sinai on the Pharisees. The reason why we are not under the Law is because Jesus already fulfilled it on our behalf. The Pharisees would stone the woman, but they couldn't. Jesus could, but He would not. Jesus did not ask the woman to stay, but she chose to stay. In the place of darkness, appeared the door of the light of life. In the presence of Jesus, there is no more condemnation. Jesus loved the woman as she was (He didn't make her confess her sins first before saving her). Jesus made the woman confess that no one condemned her. There is power in confessing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, in the midst of your sin. The gift of no condemnation is what causes people to go and sin no more. "Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:2-12 NKJV) Luke 2:25-38 - Simeon is derived from "Shama", which represents the Law. Anna is derived from "Hannah" which means grace. When the Law went out, Grace came in. Simeon blessed Joseph and Mary, but not Jesus, because Jesus (Grace) is greater than Simeon (the Law). "And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.” And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem." (Luke 2:25-38 NKJV) Psalms 91:16 - God gives us long life so that He can show us His Beloved Son Jesus (Salvation - Yeshua). "With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”" (Psalms 91:16 NKJV) John 8:56-9:1 - Jesus said that Abraham saw Him, not the other way round. The people were all blinded and couldn't see Jesus walking through the midst of them. Jesus went on to heal a blind man. Even if grace is rejected, it always finds somewhere else to give. "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth."
