26 October 2014 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Righteousness by Faith Through GraceThe degree of which you hate sickness is the same degree that you love your loved one being afflicted by it. God hates sin so much because He loves us so much. God is love, He is not a hater. By taking communion, we are receiving from God, not working for our blessings, healing, etc. We are justified while we are ungodly, we can't become godly by our own works. God sent His Son to die for our sins on the cross, so that we can become the righteousness of God. It is a divine exchange - our sins, for His righteousness. Imputing (Logizomai) - to put something that one owns, to another person's account. God exists outside of time. He created time. Jesus's blood avails outside of time because He is God. Hell is a place where the fire cannot be quenched and the worm cannot die. It is not figurative - hell really exists. A holy God cannot allow sinful man to enter His presence. He created man as holy, but by Adam and Eve's sin, man's holy nature became sinful. By receiving Jesus's righteousness and by imputing to Jesus our own sins, we can now enter God's presence. Love will always cost you. It is better to love and be hurt, than to never love at all. Luke 15:28-32 - Many believers are saved but are not living like a son of God. They behave like the prodigal son's brother. They have an impression that God is demanding. All that God has, is ours too. "“But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’ ”" (Luke 15:28-32 NKJV) Take your eyes off your own works, achievements and service. Blessings come not by our works, but by the finished work at Calvary. When we love God, we abstain from sin not because we want to earn righteousness, but because we love Him and don't want to dishonor Him. With regards to the gospel, The focus is not on the messenger - it's the message. Aim to be above reproach. The poor cannot help the poor. God prospers us so that we can be a blessing, so that we can spread the gospel to the four corners of the earth. It is provision with a purpose. 1 Corinthians 1:21 - By listening to the Word of God being preached and believing it, we are saved (healed, preserved, inherit righteousness and eternal life, etc.) "For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." (1 Corinthians 1:21, NKJV) We can't psyche our way out of fear, worry, etc, but we can listening our way out of them, by listening to the word of God. Jesus brought The Law back to its pristine glory, because the Pharisees diluted the Law to make it manageable. Jesus wanted the people to see that they need a Savior, and that there is no other way out. The Law demands righteousness, Grace supplies righteousness. Numbers 5:1-2 - Under The Law, uncleanness is contagious. Under grace, cleanness is contagious. "And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Command the children of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper, everyone who has a discharge, and whoever becomes defiled by a corpse." (Numbers 5:1-2 NKJV) Faith is not about keeping The Law. Faith is about our impression of Jesus. Through our Lord Jesus, God's blessings are contagious. Acts 13:38-39 - We are justified through Jesus, just as if we did not commit the offenses. "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses." (Acts 13:38-39 NKJV) The devil doesn't mind if we make Christianity a religion. But when we dust off the cobwebs of human tradition and preach the truth, the devil is afraid. Grace will change whatever needs changing. We should not disqualify people from receiving grace. If it was possible to keep the Law by our own efforts, it is possible to do it without love. By grace, we are filled with love and act out of the love in our hearts. Romans 4:13-15 - Abraham and His seed are promised to be heirs of the world not by keeping The Law, but through the righteousness of faith. The big blessing includes the lesser blessings. We can't be heirs of the world sick and lying flat on our backs, broke and defeated. "For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression." (Romans 4:13-15 NKJV) Galatians 3:29 - A son receives an inheritance by position, not by merit. We are heirs to God's promise to Abraham by our position as children of God, not by our works. "And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:29 NKJV) If we claim to be a 'self-made man', we have to 'self-maintain' what we 'made'. Whereas what God gives, He preserves. God is not the type that takes away what He blessed. The devil is the one that steals, kills and destroys. God is for us! Jesus came as a baby into earth - it's like a CEO becoming an ant and living among the ants. Even that analogy does not justify the humiliation of it. Jesus is so humble. God is into the healing business. When we see Jesus's ministry on earth, we see the Father's heart towards us. Jesus went about healing, opening deaf ears, casting out demons, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead, opening the eyes of the blind, etc. When we live by grace, we become holy and obedient by accident. When we go by our self-efforts to be obedient and holy, it is a pseudo-holiness that stinks of fake-ness. To see what living as an heir of the world is like, look at Abraham's blessed life. He was prosperous with many possessions, he had a loving relationship with his wife, and renewal of youth (Sarah). Abraham did not inherit the world by keeping the Law. The Law did not exist in Abraham's time. It only came 400 years later. Abraham became an heir of the world through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:1-8 - We can look morally-upright before men, but not before God. We are justified by believing God, not by our works. Grace empower us, and it is unearned, unmerited and undeserved favor from God. To receive what God promises to us, rest and believe in Him. "What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered; Blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”" (Romans 4:1-8 NKJV) I hope that you have been blessed by reading this post on "26 October 2014 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Righteousness by Faith Through Grace".
