Frozen 2 is Coming — How to Protect your Child’s Soul From Elsa’s Magic

I wonder what’s the new hit song they have composed that is the equivalent of “Let It Go”? 
One thing I know is that it’s going to be super catchy and extremely attractive, and everyone around the world is going to be crazy over it. 

The world is so skilled at producing high-quality animation that captures the imagination and arrests the heart. That’s the danger of the quickly incoming Frozen 2. 

I have no qualms watching it myself because I know that it’s just for entertainment and I don’t covet magic or anything, but to a little child watching it, it is tempting them to seek magic.

The main character, Arendelle’s Queen Elsa, is a character designed based on the Snow Queen from Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale, who is basically a witch. 

Elsa was born with ice magic and is able to use these magical powers whether for good or evil. 

““‘Don’t turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.” ‭‭(Leviticus‬ ‭19:31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

We know that magic and witchcraft is of the devil. He has an extent of supernatural power, but it is greatly inferior to God’s power.  

“The magicians tried with their enchantments to produce lice, but they couldn’t. There were lice on man, and on animal. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is God’s finger:” and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.” ‭‭(Exodus‬ ‭8:18-19‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Try as he may, the devil can’t create life. His powers are no match for God’s. 
After all, he is a creature whereas God is the Creator. 

Should we allow our children to watch Frozen 2? I think it’s ok if they are able to understand that it’s purely for entertainment and enjoying a well-written, fictional story. 

However, if they don’t understand that, you may find them dressing up as Elsa after watching the movie, and pretending to have ice magical powers. 

Don’t underestimate what a sampling of the occult from a young age can lead to — it’s not just harmless fun. 
As they grow up, they may be tempted to seek hidden power from dark sources, such as playing with ouija boards, casting magical spells, or practicing witchcraft.  

Satan wants them hooked from young, so that they will be easier to tempt and deceive when they grow up.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The question I want to ask you is: Who is training up your child in the way he/she should go? 

Are they acquiring a taste for God’s word, or for the deceptions in the world? 

This is important because what they are trained in from young, will be difficult to  remove from their programming when they are old.

Should we allow our children to watch Frozen 2? I think it’s ok if they are able to understand that it’s purely for entertainment and enjoying a well-written, fictional story.

​Godly ideas to safeguard your children from wrong believing in Frozen 2

If you are considering to bring your child to watch Frozen 2, I have some recommendations to make, to protect your child’s heart from any deception.

Starting from today, you can teach your child Biblical truths, such as Jesus doesn’t like magic because it’s evil, but He wants us to have the Holy Spirit’s powers because they are good.  

“Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.” ‭‭(1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:29-31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The idea is to teach your child to strongly desire God’s spiritual gifts rather than power from the devil. 

We are all fascinated by the supernatural, and it’s not wrong. 
I think it’s just our human spirit desiring to break free from the limitations of our human body, wanting to experience the fullness of God. 
Our spirit knows that there is much more out there than just what we can experience with our body’s five senses. 

In fact, the Bible promises believers a miraculous life filled with demonstrations of God’s power, if we will just believe and apply God’s word to our daily lives. 

“These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages; they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”” ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Secondly, there is a high-quality Christian animation for children which I recommend. 

I am watching “Superbook” with my 3 year old daughter. It was made by Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and it is fantastic! 

The show has many episodes, and each episode features their original characters Chris, Joy and Gizmo facing a challenge in their lives, and “Superbook” sends them into the era of particular Biblical characters, to teach them how to deal with those challenges in a godly way. 

Through the Superbook mobile app, children can have wholesome Biblical-based entertainment that builds their faith and knowledge of God’s word. Fantastic!

On top of that, they have fun original mini-games whereby the points earned from playing the games can win you real-life valuable rewards in a prize-draw, and even an evangelistic portion in their app that preaches the Gospel to children to get them saved.

I praise Jesus for this wonderful resource for children. 
Through theSuperbook mobile app, children can have wholesome Biblical-based entertainment that builds their faith and knowledge of God’s word. Fantastic! 

Mae loves the adorable robot character “Gizmo” from Superbook, and she is also very excited whenever Jesus appears in an episode! 

Next, I also like to describe Jesus as a Superhero when I speak to Mae. 
This is because Mae like a cartoon called “PJ Masks” which is about three children who are superheroes.

Whenever I feel led by the Holy Spirit, I will mention something like, “Jesus is the most powerful Superhero! He can heal any sickness, cast out all demons, and even raise the dead! He has all the powers of Catboy, Owlette and Gekko, and is much stronger! Jesus is my favorite!”

Speaking in a way that appeals to your child’s interests and making Jesus relatable to them, is effective. 

When speaking to children, you don’t have to make Jesus sound so boring. 
He is actually really cool, awe-inspiring and amazing. 
Paint that mental image in your child’s mind. 

They want to worship a superhero and make him their role model, so why not let that superhero be Jesus? 

In closing, any opportunity that I have to enforce the belief that magic is evil, I will express it to Mae. 

For example, if she’s on YouTube watching a cartoon with a witch waving a magic wand, I will say something like, “Naughty witch. Magic is so evil. I don’t like it. I like God’s power. The Holy Spirit’s power is much better and stronger!”

She will often repeat that after me and say that magic is evil, and that she prefers  Jesus’ power. 

The world is full of entertainment that glorifies magic. 
It’s in almost every children’s programme, and I’m sure that Frozen 2 will be no exception. 
If we want our children to grow up rooted in God’s ways, it’s not going to happen automatically.

It takes a right belief to replace a wrong one. One of the ways that God teaches your children, is through you. 

“Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭127:3-4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Your children were not conceived by accident. They are a gift and a reward from Jesus. 
They are put into your life to be blessings to you. 

As much as they are blessings to you, God also wants you to be a blessing to them. 
Your children are like arrows in your hand — as a parent, you are like an archer.

In the New Testament, the word “sin” in the original Greek is “harmartia” which means to miss the mark. 
Your job is to direct your children in the ways of the Lord, like arrows in your hand, so that they fly and hit the mark. 

The best thing you can do for your children is to help them believe in Jesus from as early in life as possible. 

When they are little, you are a big voice of influence in their lives, so that’s a huge responsibility. 

It’s time to use that voice to steward your children well for Jesus’ sake. 
Let the Lord Jesus be firmly enthroned in their little hearts.

We can’t shelter them from the world’s ideas and beliefs forever, but we can teach them to be anchored in God’s word from an early age. 

When we do it well by God’s Grace, not even Elsa’s icy magic can stop their hearts from burning with a passionate love for Jesus!
