18 January 2015 - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes Online - New Creation Church Sermon Notes Online - Seeing Our Nearness to God Through the SacrificesGod is The Lord of time. The Creator is not lesser than His creations. The Lord gives you a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, not paragraphs of them... There are five offerings in the Levitical Law - burnt offering, sin offering, trespass offering, meal/grain offering, peace offering - three out of the five offerings are done voluntarily. Only the trespass offering and sin offering are compulsory, but thank God that Jesus paid offered them for us permanently, through His own death on the cross. Hebrews 13:15-16 - The word "sacrifice" points to worshiping God. The sacrifice of praise is a burnt offering to God. "Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." (Hebrews 13:15-16 NKJV) In a world that has lost its moral compass, dare to stand out for God. Don't let the world squeeze you down to its level. The God of Daniel is our God too. Philippians 4:16-19 - When you give to God voluntarily, it goes up to God as a sweet-smelling aroma and He is well pleased. "For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:16-19 NKJV) Leviticus 1:1-2 - " offering" (Korban - to draw near). When we give an offering to The Lord, we are drawing near to Him. "Now the LORD called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When any one of you brings an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock." (Leviticus 1:1-2 NKJV) Trespass (Asham - guilt) offering - The injured party becomes a gainer by regaining 120% of what he lost. God's grace will flow in your area of weakness. When you are weak, then you are strong in God. Ephesians 2:11-14 - We are to realise our nearness in position to God. We are brought as near to God as possible, thanks to the blood of Christ. Use your nearness to God to be a blessing to others. "Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation," (Ephesians 2:11-14 NKJV) Feelings are not reliable, but God's word is reliable and everlasting. There is both positional as well as practical holiness. To be holy means to be complete/whole. Luke 10:1 - At one point in time, Jesus had eighty-two disciples during His ministry on earth. "After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go." (Luke 10:1 NKJV) Luke 10:17 - The seventy disciples (in addition to the twelve disciples that remained with Jesus until the Garden of Gethsemane) were given power through Jesus's name too. "Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”" (Luke 10:17 NKJV) John 6:65-69 - It is by the mercy of our Heavenly Father that we are saved. If He didn't draw us to Him, we wouldn't be able to have nearness to God. Many people dislike grace. They have pride in their own abilities. There are degrees of nearness between Jesus and His disciples. "And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”" (John 6:65-69 NKJV) We are to boast in Christ alone, not in anything of our own flesh. John 6:70-71 - Out of the disciples of Jesus, Judas was not saved. Being called a disciple does not equate to being saved. Only those that truly believe in Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior are saved. "Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve." (John 6:70-71 NKJV) Both Cain and Jonah left the presence of The Lord. God only went after Jonah because Jonah belonged to Him. Cain is lost. God disciplines His own people. If you have a domestic helper at home, be kind and respectful to them. Don't have a 'master and slave' attitude and treat them as your slaves. Psalm 91:16 - It is God's will for us to have long life. The word "salvation" is "Yeshua" in Hebrew, which is "Jesus" in Hebrew. Our long life is for us to see more and more of Jesus, so that we can be useful to God on earth, to minister to the lost so that they can be saved. "With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”" (Psalms 91:16 NKJV) Hebrews 10:1-4 - The sacrifices under the Law brings a reminder of sins. Sin-consciousness produces more sin. If there was true perfection produced in the worshipers through the sacrifices under the Law, there would be no more consciousness of sins. "For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins." (Hebrews 10:1-4 NKJV) If you knew how much Jesus is an overpayment for your sins, you will come to God boldly for all your needs. Our conscience must be met by being sprinkled with the blood of Christ so that sin-debt consciousness will be wiped away. We now have a perfect conscience because we have a perfect sacrifice - our Lord Jesus. Three W's : God's will, the work of Jesus Christ, the witness of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 10:9-12 - God's will is to remove the Law. "The first" is "The Law", and "the second" is "Grace". Jesus sat down at the right hand of God not because He is the Son of God, but because all our sins have been paid for. "then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God," (Hebrews 10:9-12 NKJV) Hebrew 10:15-25 - God assures us that He will remember our sins NO MORE, NEVER, EVER. The blood of Jesus is always fresh and avails for our forgiveness of sins forever. The teachings inspired by the Holy Spirit will always give us full assurance of faith in God. An evil conscience is one that constantly reminds you of your sins. "But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
