Only This Blocks your Blessings

Faith is the only way to receive blessings. There is only one thing that blocks your blessings. Find out what that is in this article.

Have you ever heard a teaching that if you refuse to forgive someone, you can be blocking your own blessings?

This is false—unforgiveness is not what stops the blessing. It’s your unbelief, which is demonstrated in your unforgiveness.

When a person refuses to forgive someone even though Jesus asked us to forgive one another just as He has already forgiven us, he is not fully trusting the Lord.

He is still insisting in his own ways, instead of placing faith in Jesus—like somehow if he forgives the offender, that person will get away scot free and Jesus won’t do anything about it.

The underlying unbelief is what blocks the person’s blessings. He is not able to receive because he is not willing to just surrender to Jesus and believe.

What about sin? Can sin block your blessings? No they can’t, but the unbelief produced by the condemnation and sin consciousness can cause one to feel unworthy to receive God’s blessings—it is a self-imposed stumbling block to faith.

“You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.” (1 Peter‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭WEB‬)

In the verse above, we see clearly that treating your wife badly can become a hindrance to your prayers.
A man who beats his wife can’t boldly stand before Jesus to receive every blessing.
His conscience will keep nagging to disqualify him from every blessing.
That’s how sinning produces unbelief which blocks your blessings.

Faith is the only way to receive blessings. There is only one thing that blocks your blessings, and that is unbelief.

What about tithing and holy communion? Does neglecting these block your blessings?

Have you also heard that if you don’t tithe or give offerings at church, God won’t bless you with financial provision? This is also false.
It’s not because you don’t give, but because of the unbelief causing you not to give.

A person who doesn’t give shows that he has unbelief in his heart. He doesn’t trust that God is his provider who supplies all his needs generously.

A person who doesn’t give thinks he’s being generous to God if he gives, and that he is sacrificing—when actually God has already blessed in abundance but the person is unable to receive due to unbelief.

What then does giving add to you? Besides being a great opportunity to release your faith to receive more provision, you are also heaping up eternal rewards which you can enjoy forever.

Your financial seed goes on to bless the poor, the orphans, the widows, the ministers of God’s word and it’s your honor and privilege to be used by God to be the answer to someone’s prayers on earth.

What about Holy Commubion (aka the Lord’s Supper)? Does it mean that if you don’t partake of it you will not be healthy?

No, this is false, but the fact that a person can’t partake with a clear conscience or bold faith in Jesus, shows that there’s unbelief in their heart.

Perhaps they still don’t believe that their sins are fully forgiven and they think that God is still out to punish them.
This unbelief is what blocks a person from receiving healing—he thinks God is not willing to heal him, or that the sickness is a punishment from God.

Partaking of Holy Communion correctly by seeing the bread as Jesus’ body broken for your healing and the wine as Jesus’ blood shed for your forgiveness of sins is a perfect opportunity to release your faith for healing.
The visual symbols and reminder of Jesus’ finished work at the cross help to usher you into the state of faith.

So you get the point...today the only hindrance that blocks your blessings and miracles is unbelief.
Likewise, the only thing that receives blessings today is faith.

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James‬ ‭1:5-8‬ ‭WEB‬)

You can replace the word “wisdom” in the passage above with any blessing and it will still be correct. Just ask in faith and you will receive what you asked for in abundance.

Do you lack provision? Ask in faith and you will receive.
Do you lack health? Ask in faith and you will receive.
Do you lack freedom because of an addiction? Ask in faith and you will receive.
Do you lack peace in your soul? Ask in faith and you will receive.

And how does faith come? By hearing messages about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your eye opening truth on what blocks our blessings. I came across your article while searching online about how to meditate on God"s word.
What I want to know is do I have to speak to someone after I have forgiven them for things they have done to me?

Hi Novelette,

Welcome to my blog! I’m glad you enjoyed the article. When you forgive someone, you can do it in your heart and confess your forgiveness of that person to God. It’s actually between you and God. You don’t have to speak to those who hurt you in the past or try to become their friends. Just release them from your heart, and move on happily with your life. No matter how much someone has hurt us, we have committed far worse crimes by sinning against God every day. He forgave us of all that through Jesus, so we can extend that spirit of forgiveness towards our fellow men as well.
