7 October 2018 - The Weapons and Armor of Spiritual Warfare - Pastor Lawrence Lim Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPraise and Worship songs performed:
Psalm 118:1 - Whether your circumstances are good or not, you can still praise God because He is always good. The words “loving kindness” is hesed in Hebrew, which means grace. His grace endures forever. God will turn around everything for your good. “Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.” (Psalms 118:1 WEB) Ephesians 6:10-18 - The Epistle to the Ephesians can be divided into three parts: Sit, Walk, and Stand. Or it can be divided into the three Ws: Wealth, Walk, Warfare. We need to know our wealth in Christ before we can walk in the Lord, and finally be prepared for spiritual warfare. There’s a difference between being strong and being strong in the Lord. In and of ourselves, we are weak. We need to receive strength from Jesus. We can only do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The word “wiles” means trickery and deception. When we put on the whole armor of God, we will be able to stand against the lies of the devil. The Bible calls the devil the Father of lies. The armor of God has got to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our enemies are not in human flesh - they are demons. God is not against wrestling - God is okay with us learning martial arts. Mixed Martial arts, jujitsu, etc. are fine. There are spiritual forces in the world today and they are enemies of our soul. We stand against the devil not to fight for victory. We fight from victory. We just need to stand on victory ground (the Gospel) and enforce the victory. Jesus already won the fight against the devil at the cross. Belt of truth: It’s knowing the truth that sets you free. When Jesus said that to the Jews, He wasn’t referring to the Old Testament because the Jews already knew it. Jesus came to reveal the truth of God’s Grace. The truth that you need today is the truth of God’s grace. Breastplate of righteousness: Righteousness cannot be earned or merited by good works, and cannot be lost by evil works. It can only be received as a gift from God. Gospel of Peace: the word “preparation” in Greek has the same meaning as “foundation”. We need to be established in the gospel of peace. We must know that we have peace with God. Shield of Faith: It doesn’t matter how strong the enemy’s attack is - you will be protected so long as you hold up the shield of faith. Helmet of Salvation: Knowing that your salvation is eternally-secure protects your head (the most crucial part). When you wear the armor of God, the devil is afraid. In and of ourselves, we are nothing. Sword of the Spirit: What you don’t know cannot help you. You must know God’s word. Praying in the Spirit: Is the seventh piece of the armor. When you pray in tongues, all the pieces of the armor of God come together. Praying in tongues is an offensive weapon. When you start praying in tongues, the devil flees from you. The devil is not a lion - he masquerades like a roaring lion - He’s actually just a pussycat. Prayer is your weapon - it is your power. A gun is useless if you don’t pull the trigger. Pull it! “Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:” (Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB) Sandcastles Don't Last Forever

This is the eBook version. If you prefer to get the Paperback version (physical copy), you can get it on Amazon here for US$15. About the Book: One day when I was singing praises to God, an image floated up in my spirit: a big and beautiful sandcastle being washed away by the waves from the sea. God was teaching me the futility of holding tightly onto worldly possessions because like the sandcastle, they won't last, and one day will cease to exist. He taught me from His word to focus on Him and by doing so, I would reap great eternal rewards before Jesus' throne at the start of the Millennium. These rewards will last forever and can't be destroyed or stolen. It is my prayer that the revelations in this book will help you to live with a focus on the things above where God is, fulfill your God-given calling in life, be happier and to accumulate more eternal rewards to your account. In this Book, you will learn about: - Heavenly investment advice and the futility of worldly pursuits from a trillionaire in the Bible - Why God has to reward us in order to be righteous - When and how God will destroy the current earth and sky to make way for new ones - The types of fireproof works that earn eternal rewards at the end of time - The abundant rewards of doing good works while abiding by the non-disclosure agreement between God and you - The difference between the temporary places of torment: Sheol and Abaddon - Who is the Antichrist and his name revealed in the Bible - What is the Mark of the Beast and why it disqualifies its recipients from receiving salvation - The different judgments at the throne of Jesus Christ and what it means for you as a believer - How to fulfill your calling and maximize your gifts to receive the best eternal rewards Testimonials about the contents of this book: "Sandcastles Don't Last Forever is very well written, its message loud and clear. Milton Goh gives common-sense insight on often confusing Scripture, which is much appreciated in these troubled times. My understanding of the Bible has definitely improved." - Mike Garrett, first Editor/ Publisher for Stephen King and Author of Christian Novel "Innocence Denied", from USA "This book is absolutely breathtaking. We don't work to be saved but were created to do good works. I am so energized and excited to know God values our works and we will be rewarded. This is all Glory to Jesus... I cant wait to throw my crowns at his feet and thank him for saving my life!" - Evangelist Michael Clark from USA "Dear Milton Goh, I truly thank our Abba, Father for the revelations in this book. It is so amazing how I begin to discover important verses in the Bible that I have never read. That instead of following riches, with sleepless nights, and actually shortening our lives, we are just to 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ', and 'Love one another'. How beautiful to find out that actually in the Bible there is both 'Earthly or Worldly Investment Wisdom' and 'Eternal Investment Wisdom' according to the revelations here from Ecclesiastes 5:14-17 WEB)!; “It seems like Solomon was not only wise at earning material riches but also at earning eternal riches.” All the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! God bless you Milton Goh for such a wonderful book!" - Nitta Nierra from Belgium “Thank you Milton. I have just finished reading “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever”. It’s such a good book that's filled with God's word. I love it very much. Might read again if I have the time. Thanks so much!” - Mally Chai from Singapore "I'm reading this book and loving it! The revelations of the Gospel truth shared and it's life applications are absolutely amazing! I give glory to the Lord Jesus for my dear brother Milton for this exceptional resource. I'm gonna keep feeding on its contents and believe God for supernatural breakthroughs as my mind is renewed in Christ!" - Terence from Tombel, Cameroon “Excellent book!! I enjoyed reading it so much and definitely recommend it! Milton is so gifted and all his teachings have blessed me tremendously! I thank God for people like him. Get this book, it will be worth it!” - Madeleine from SA, “Unmerited Favor” tier patron * The PDF file of this eBook will be sent to you via email manually after your purchase is confirmed. Prayer is our weapon against the devil - use it!Ephesians 1:3-7 - God did not make us His children reluctantly - He is most happy about it. We are highly favored in the eyes of God. We already have the forgiveness of our sins because of the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for us at the cross. We are not forgiven because we are diligent in confessing our sins. It is all because of the blood that was shed! God is no longer mad at you - He is madly in love with you. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love; having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved, in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Ephesians 1:3-7 WEB) Isaiah 40:29-31 - God’s strength is not with the self-controlled, diligent, or those who fast for 40 days and 40 nights. God gives strength to those who are weak. If you feel weak, you qualify to receive His strength. God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. Many times, you will see God’s strength in the area of your weakness if you trust in God. To wait on the Lord in Hebrew is “Kavah” which is linked to the word tikvah (which means hope). To wait on the Lord means to have a confident expectation of good in your future. When you do that, your strength will be renewed. After the great flood during Noah’s time, Abraham lived the longest life - 175 years. Abraham is known for his faith. When you have faith in the Lord, He will renew your strength. “He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31 WEB) Romans 1:5 - Believing in Jesus is counted as obedience today. Obedience to the faith is mentioned again in Romans 16:26. “through whom we received grace and apostleship, for obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name’s sake;” (Romans 1:5 WEB) John 10:27-29 - You cannot lose your salvation. Once saved, always saved. You will never be separated from God’s love. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:27-29 WEB) Isaiah 59:14-17 - God wears the armor of God too. The garments of vengeance is not vengeance towards us, but towards Satan. When we put on the armor of God, God doesn’t just see us - He sees Himself. We put on the armor of God by believing in the Gospel. “Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter. Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness sustained him. He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.” (Isaiah 59:14-17 WEB) 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 - When King Jehoshaphat saw his kingdom surrounded by multitudes of enemies, he prayed. That prayer was the beginning of a great, miraculous victory. When they praised the Lord and exalted His Grace, God defeated all their enemies for them. Things will turn around for your good when you focus on God’s Grace. Praise and worship is the highest form of prayer. Instead of asking God to bless you, you can thank Him for already blessing you. “When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to Yahweh, and give praise in holy array, as they go out before the army, and say, “Give thanks to Yahweh; for his loving kindness endures forever.” When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck.” (2 Chronicles 20:21-22 WEB) Closing Prayer: Pastor Lawrence prayed for us to be surrounded with God’s favor as a shield, to enjoy the free favors of God, and for the love of God the Father, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the sweet communion of the Holy Spirit to be with us.
