Living Hope - Bethel Music Romans 5:5 - The word disappoint in this verse is “Kataischyno” in Greek which has a strong meaning of to be put to shame or disgraced. Hoping in Jesus does not put us to shame. The love of God is not just near—its been poured into your heart. “and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5 WEB) Romans 5:1-4 - We have already been justified by faith—not through good works or doing charity. Don’t put your hope in any material things but in the glory of God. We can rejoice in our sufferings because it produces perseverance, character and finally, hope. “Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope:” (Romans 5:1-4 WEB) For servers and volunteers, don’t underestimate your smile, greetings and warmth. It makes a difference to believers who come to church. The new commandment under Grace is: love one another as Jesus has loved us. The Lord intervenes by restraining you in your heart when you’re about to do something that will cause great destruction in your life. Romans 5:6-8 - Jesus died for the ungodly, not the godly. While we were still sinners, before we even acknowledged that we were sinners, Jesus died for us. The word “commends” in Greek is sunistémi which means to support or line up with. God keeps demonstrating how much He loves us by pointing to Jesus’ finished work at the cross. “For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die. But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6-8 WEB)
