26 January 2020 - The Treasure of Life - Pastor Mark Ng Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon Notes

Pastor Mark Ng shared that Jesus is the treasure of life. When we rest in Jesus' love and follow Him, He leads us to obtain good blessings at the right place in the right time.

During busy holiday seasons, we should prioritize nurturing relationships over perceived perfection.
Chinese New Year is a time to reconnect with family rather than preparing the perfect steamboat.

Don’t put unnecessary laws or demands upon yourself.

When Jesus said that He “must go up to Jerusalem” to suffer and die at the cross, we see His heart to restore mankind to Himself. He wants a relationship with us.

Perfect prayer is when we see Jesus as perfectly loving us. It’s not how perfect we are—it’s how perfect He is.

When you’re sad Jesus draws near to you, just like how He drew near to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

Matthew 11:28-30 - Real rest is knowing that Jesus loves you. Come to Jesus and He’ll teach you how to live freely and lightly.
Jesus is God and He is love. Christians are to be recognized by their love for one another.

““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”” (Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭MSG‬‬)

1 Chronicles 28:19 - This verse is about David receiving the blueprint for Solomon’s temple from the Lord.
David had a heart of worship. Jesus will teach you how to understand life.

““All this”, said David, “I have been made to understand in writing from Yahweh’s hand, even all the works of this pattern.”” (1 Chronicles‬ ‭28:19‬ ‭WEB‬)

1 Chronicles 28:20 - We need to be strong and courageous because God’s plan for our life is hard to achieve—but possible through Him.
To be a strong Christians means to fasten yourself to Jesus.
Courageous in the Hebrew has the meaning of being alert.
David personalized God as “my God”.
We will fail but God will never fail us.
Be conscious that God is with you and that He will never leave nor forsake you.

“David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed; for Yahweh God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of Yahweh’s house is finished.” (1 Chronicles‬ ‭28:20‬ ‭WEB‬)

Let God’s word come into your life. Our life’s foundation is the Grace of God.

We don’t read the Bible to find out what to do. We read it to know and believe what Jesus has done for us. Read it to see how much God loves you.

Read the Bible just to gain knowledge makes us proud, but read it to see God’s love builds us up.

Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly.

Bring your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (the finished work at the cross), not your own obedience to Christ.

Jesus is Immanuel—know that He is always with you through His Spirit.

Pastor Mark Ng shared that Jesus is the treasure of life. When we rest in Jesus' love and follow Him, He leads us to obtain good blessings at the right place in the right time.

Focus on Jesus, not on your problems

John 15:5 - You can’t gain eternal life by reading the Bible without coming to Jesus, just like how a woman cannot get pregnant by reading a book about pregnancy without going to her husband.
When you’re joined with Jesus, you are sure to become fruitful.

““I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” (John‬ ‭15:5 MSG‬)

When you think you can see, you’re actually blind. When you admit you can’t see, Jesus will show you more.

Emperor Kangxi began ruling at 15 years old and he wrote two poems about Jesus—“Treasure of Life” and “The Death of Christ”.
He reigned for 61 years as a virtuous emperor of China. China flourished under his rule.

Isaiah 60:2 - When we see the King Jesus, His glory will be seen upon us.
In His light, we see light.

“For, behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but Yahweh will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭60:2‬ ‭WEB‬)

2 Timothy 4:18 - You don’t know what lies ahead in your future, but Jesus will deliver you from every evil work.
Jesus will preserve you for His heavenly kingdom—you are saved eternally and He will take you up to Heaven when the Rapture happens.

“And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭WEB‬)

When you’re resting in Jesus’ love, your immune system will be built up. Draw near to Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 - Only Jesus can put you at the right place at the right time.
We cannot preempt what is going to happen to us, but the Bible teaches us to follow Jesus.
Man cannot compress time and get good results.
Crops that are forced to grow quickly are less nutritious.
But Jesus could miraculously turn water into the best wine.
With God, the best is yet to come.
If we don’t flow with Jesus, we lose good opportunities.
See Jesus first and fill yourself with His love. After that you will be prepared to meet the day’s demands.
Follow Jesus in your daily life and in every decision.
Follow Jesus and He will give you opportunities in every circumstance.
Listen to Jesus, walk in the way He leads you and you will obtain good blessings.

“I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.” (Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9:11‬ ‭NLT)

Focus on Jesus, not on your losses or the breakthrough you need.
The moment you stop obsessing over your problems—fixing your eyes on Jesus, you will see your breakthrough.

Jeremiah 29:11 - Jesus is your good future.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭WEB)

2 Peter 1:2 - Focus on Jesus and He will do everything good for you.

“May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” (2 Peter‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭AMPC‬‬)

Exodus 12:6 - There were two evenings at the cross. Through the cross, we have received much more. [ 多(much) = 夕(evening) + 夕(evening) ]

“‘And it hath become a charge to you, until the fourteenth day of this month, and the whole assembly of the company of Israel have slaughtered it between the evenings;” (Exodus‬ ‭12:6‬ ‭YLT1898‬‬)
