4 June 2023 - Hope That Does Not Disappoint - New Creation Church Sermon Notes (Pastor Lim Lian Neo)

New Sermon Notes: Pastor Lian taught us to hope in God to renew our strength as we wait for the desired breakthrough. We will not be disappointed by having confident hope in God.

Psalm 103:1-5 - We declared this aloud together as a church.

“Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name! Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Jesus said that we would have trials and tribulations in this world, but to take heart as He has overcome the world.

Psalm 27:13 - David declared this even when he was going through troubles.
The word “still” in this verse means that a lot of time has passed.
If you have been facing an issue for a long time and waiting for a breakthrough, you can still be confident in the goodness of God.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.” (Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭13‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Psalm 27:14 - The word translated as “wait” is “qavah” in Hebrew which means hope. To wait means to Hope in God. Wait is emphasized twice—it is important. Some time is required for fulfillment of His promises.

“Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.” (Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭14‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Romans 5:5 - God’s love is gushing out into our hearts. We will not be disappointed when we hope in God.

“and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Isaiah 40:31 - We need strength to wait. Whilst waiting, keep hoping in the Lord Jesus to renew strength.

“but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

God’s word is our anchor of hope to renew our strength in times of delayed manifestations

Psalm 130:5 - Anchor your hope on God’s word.

“I wait for Yahweh. My soul waits. I hope in his word.” (Psalms‬ ‭130‬:‭5‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Hebrews 6:19 - Our soul is naturally impatient and bad at waiting. Let our hope be anchored in God’s word.

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,” (Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Exodus 32:1-2 - The people built an idol when they saw that Moses delayed.
Aaron was affected as a well. The people breaking off their golden earrings represents abandoning their hearing about the gift of divine righteousness.
Hear about messages that you are the righteousness of God in Christ. Otherwise, you will be susceptible to hearing the voice of fear and others.

“When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.” Aaron said to them, “Take off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.”” (Exodus‬ ‭32‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Romans 8:33-39 - Jesus is now making intercession for us at the right hand of the Father. He will never fail.
We are more than conquerors because Jesus gave us the victory.

“Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭33‬-‭39‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)

Galatians 3:2-6 - It is not our working to earn the Spirit but our receiving the Spirit by faith.
We receive miracles through the hearing of faith.
This is the life that God has given to us: receiving His supply instead of working to obtain.

“I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain? He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? Even so, Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”” (Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬-‭6‬ ‭WEBUS‬‬)
