21 June 2020 - The Revelation of Forgiveness of Sins - Pastor Joseph Prince Sermon Notes - New Creation Church Sermon NotesPastor Joseph Prince reminded us that forgiveness of sins is the mother of all blessings. The lack of believing that you are totally forgiven causes many problems. Forgiveness of sins is a truth we must hear over and over, throughout our Christian life! Praise and worship songs performed: 1. Living Hope - Bethel Music 2. Grace Made Real - New Creation Worship Ephesians 6:2-3 - This is the only one of the Ten Commandments that has a promise with it. You will live long when you honor your parents. ““Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: “that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”” (Ephesians 6:2-3 WEB) God is not behind COVID-19. He is working things out for our good, according to His plans and purposes. The world is going to get worse. But when darkness covers the earth, the glory of the Lord will shine on the church. The church is going through a time that is unprecedented in history. The respect that the world has for the church has been corroded. But God is going to restore that glory. Job 20:5 - The evil day is short. Look forward to good days to come. “that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?” (Job 20:5 WEB) Luke 7:36-50 - The word “forgave” in the passage below is charizomai in the original Greek. This means graciously forgave. “Judged correctly” in the passage below is krino in the Greek. To judge correctly is to know that whoever is forgiven much, loves much. The revelation of how forgiven you are in Christ will break sinful habits. It won’t cause you to want to go out and sin crazily. Instead, it will cause a person to serve the Lord in a ‘self-forgetful’ way, out of love for the Lord. To give assurance to the immoral woman, Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” “One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house, and sat at the table. Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment. Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.” Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Teacher, say on.” “A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?” Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.” Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet. You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”” (Luke 7:36-50 WEB) No one is able to love God with all his heart, mind and soul. No one truly loves their neighbor as themselves. That’s why God gave the Law—to show man’s inability to become righteous on his own. The Law is like a mirror. If the mirror reflects a stain on your face, it can’t wipe that stain away for you. It shows the problem but doesn’t provide the solution. Love is the fulfillment of the Law. If you are focused on your keeping of the Law, you become proud. Love causes us to unconsciously live holy and righteously.
