New Sermon Notes: God wants us to abound in hope and confidently expect great things from Him. We can be full of joy and peace even when we are still waiting for our breakthroughs because Jesus has been resurrected and we know that all our sins have been forgiven. The saving power of the Gospel is working in our lives as we keep on hearing it!

Psalm 122:1 - David was glad just to hear words spoken about going to the house of God. During his time, the temple had not been built yet. Today, under the New Covenant going to the house of God is about attending a gathering of believers.

“I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!”” (Psalms‬ ‭122:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Matthew 18:20 - Christ is in our midst to provide, heal, and save when we are gathered in His name.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”” (Matthew‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 107:1 - We must believe that God is good. We can always expect great things from God. As we have received from Him, we can attempt great things for God.

“Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.” (Psalms‬ ‭107:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 15:13 - Our God is a God of hope. Even when the answer to your prayers has not arrived yet, you can still be full of all joy and peace in believing. God wants us to be overflowing with hope in every area of our lives.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Even in the worst situations, you can still have confident hope in Christ

Job 14:7-9 - Even in the worst situation where you feel like a tree that has been severed, there is still hope. Just at the scent of water (not even touching it), a tree will bud and sprout branches again. Water speaks of God’s word.

““For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease. Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stock dies in the ground, yet through the scent of water it will bud, and sprout boughs like a plant.” (Job‬ ‭14:7-9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 7:37-39 - The Holy Spirit is the living water.

“Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.” (John‬ ‭7:37-39‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 5:26-27 - God’s word is also water. There is also renewal of youth that happens when we are washed with the water of God’s word.

“that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect.” (Ephesians‬ ‭5:26-27‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Pastor Lawrence shared a testimony of how a man with stage four cancer was completely healed within seven months. He is now cancer-free. This man kept hearing the Gospel daily.

Romans 10:17 - Listen to Christ and about His finished work at the cross. It will cause you to be in faith.

“So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is the proof that we will have what we believe.

“Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Psalm 119:25 - There is a revival that happens in your entire being when you receive God’s word. Life is added to you.

“My soul is laid low in the dust. Revive me according to your word!” (Psalms‬ ‭119:25‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 1:16 - The Gospel is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes.

“For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.” (Romans‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Proverbs 4:20-22 - The Gospel of Grace is life that drives death away. It keeps disease at bay. Keep on hearing God’s word.

“My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.” (Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 2:2 - This is what we should be hearing about.

“For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 1:23-24 - We access the wisdom and power of God by listening to the Gospel.

“but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:23-24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Kings 3:9-13 - Solomon in his humility asked for a hearing heart. God was so pleased with his request that He gave him riches and honor more than any other king in history. Money will not solve all your problems. God can give you something better: His wisdom. With that, comes riches and honor as well.

“Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of yours?” This request pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice; behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart; so that there has been no one like you before you, and after you none will arise like you. I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you for all your days.” (1 Kings‬ ‭3:9-13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 6:17 - This helmet of salvation is elaborated on in 1 Thessalonians.

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Thessalonians 5:8 - It is the helmet of the hope of salvation. Hope in Greek is “elpis”. Not just wishful thinking, but a confident expectation based on the solid certainty of God’s word. Hope is not inferior to faith, but is an extension of faith. Salvation in Greek is “soteria” which is not just saved from hell, but is used both in a material, temporal sense, as well as in a spiritual, eternal sense. Soteria can mean a general sense of well-being.
We can expect God to protect us, provide for us, keep us healthy, and all things we need in this life.
With every passing day, we are one step closer to our breakthrough.

“But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 10:11 - When you put your hope in Jesus, you will not be disappointed or put to shame.

“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”” (Romans‬ ‭10:11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Acts 2:25-32 - Peter is quoting David’s psalm (Psalm 16). David as a prophet foresaw (through a vision) the resurrected Lord Jesus before his face. Our rejoicing is in the Lord and His presence.

“For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope; because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. You made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’…”Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left in Hades, nor did his flesh see decay. This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses.” (Acts‬ ‭2:25-32‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Corinthians 15:17 - We are no longer in our sins.

“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 4:25 - Jesus was resurrected because we have been justified. We have hope in our hearts because our sins have all been forgiven and the resurrected Lord Jesus is the proof of that.

“who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” (Romans‬ ‭4:25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Mark 15:37-38 - In the Tabernacle of David, there is no veil, but in the Tabernacle of Moses there was a huge and thick veil separating the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies.
When Jesus gave up His spirit at the cross, the veil in the temple was torn, showing that there is now no more separation between us who believe and God.

“Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit. The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.” (Mark‬ ‭15:37-38‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Hebrews 10:11-20 - We have been forever sanctified by the one offering that Jesus offered of Himself at the cross. Jesus’ flesh was torn so that we could be reconciled to God.

“Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet. For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them: ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’” then he says, “I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.” Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:11-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 5:5 - Having hope in Christ will never cause you to be disappointed.

“and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 3:16 - This is the good news that the world needs to hear. God loves you so much that He gave up His only and only Son so that we could be saved.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave us his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 John 4:8, 16 - God does not just have love—He is love.

“He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love. We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.” (1 John‬ ‭4:8, 16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

As you receive wave after wave of restoration, you will prosper and eventually become very prosperous. This revelation is what inspired this book. At that time, the Holy Spirit said that God wants to prosper us in all things through His restoration. He is putting what is broken and missing back to their ideal places in your life. God will rearrange things for your good.

After you overcome each challenge, God does not leave you as broken pieces. He restores you by putting you back together and sealing the cracks with gold—the workings of His Grace. You become more precious and valuable than if you did not go through hardships.

The Japanese art of Kintsugi is a perfect illustration of this. The practitioner takes a broken earthen vessel, assembles the pieces, and literally seals the cracks with gold. It is restored as a beautiful art piece, more valuable than before it was broken.
