14 Feb 2021 - What Do you Believe? - New Creation Church Sermon Notes - Pastor Mark Ng Sermon Notes

Pastor Mark Ng shared how to access the power of the Gospel, and showed us revelations about God and Jesus Christ from ancient Chinese written characters.

The Chinese have a lot of superstitions that they observe during Chinese New Year in order to try and secure a blessed year ahead for themselves.

It’s not about what we do outwardly but what we believe in our hearts that cause us to receive blessings.

Romans 1:16 - The Gospel is about what you believe in your heart. It is about God sending His Son to die on the cross so that we could be forgiven of our sins and be made the righteousness of God in Christ.

“For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.” (Romans‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 John 4:15-16 - It is important to live life loved. Know that Abba God loves you.
Trust that God is working all things together for your good.

“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God. We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.” (1 John‬ ‭4:15-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

1 Peter 3:10 - When your heart is filled with Jesus and His love for you, you will speak good things without even trying to abstain from speaking evil.

“For, “He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.” (1 Peter‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When you believe right, you will live right.

Pastor Mark Ng shared how to access the power of the Gospel, and showed us revelations about God and Jesus Christ from ancient Chinese written characters.

There are revelations about Jesus Christ in the ancient Chinese written characters

Genesis 2:8 - The Mandarin character for blessing is 福. 礻(God) + 一口 (one man) + 田 (field). God made a man in a garden.

“Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Genesis‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

John 1:29 - 祥 (Auspicious) = 礻(God) +羊 (Lamb)
To have auspiciousness means that you have the Lamb of God in your life who has taken away all your sins.

“The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John‬ ‭1:29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Romans 8:29 - 祝福 (blessing) = 礻(God)+兄 (firstborn).
We are blessed in Jesus the Firstborn Son of God.

“For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” (Romans‬ ‭8:29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Ephesians 1:3 - We are blessed with every blessing in Christ Jesus.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

During Chinese New Year, people visit their relatives and bring kumquats (金柑) = 十 (cross) + 人 (man) + 甘 (willing)

2 Corinthians 8:9 - 窮 = 穴(cave) + 身 (body) + 弓 (bent).
The traditional character for “poor” is a picture of a man curled up in a cave, being in darkness.
富 in contrast, the word for rich, is a picture of coming home to the Father’s abundance. 宀 (home) + 一口 (one person) + 田 (field).

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭8:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Luke 15:17 - 爹 (Abba) = 父 (father) + 多 (abundant).
Your Abba God is very wealthy.

“But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!” (Luke‬ ‭15:17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

義 (righteousness) = 羊 (Lamb) + 我 (Me)
To be righteous is to have the Lamb (Jesus) with you.

This Chinese New Year, know that it’s all about what you believe in your heart, not about what you do that causes you to have a blessed year.

It’s not about observing fifteen days of auspicious acts to ensure a year full of blessings. If your heart is full of Jesus, you will speak life and blessings for the whole year, and keep your house tidy and clean for the whole year, and more, reflecting a renewed mindset in Christ. The results of Grace always exceeds what you can achieve by fleshly efforts.
